So I've already begun to plan out my costume for next Halloween and have decided to go the Beau Geste route. Does anyone know where to get a reproduction blue coat or a fairly similar substitute?

Depends on how serious you are about being realistic and accurate. There is a website that involves WW1 re-enactors for the French 151st Regiment of Infantry, www.151ril.com. Go to the site, click on Links and then go to Vendors. All sorts of equipment and uniforms can be bought. It won't be cheap but it will be accurate. I'm sure that a dark blue overcoat can be found here. -- Al
