This is a fascinating case and long overdue. Good work by the FBI.
However the arrested are mainly from South American football associations. Speculated that today's arrests of FIFA officials came as a result of evidence provided by former FIFA executive turned alleged FBI informant Chuck Blazer who may have been working for FBI for a number of years.

The 50-year-old was born and lives in the Cayman Islands and is the Cayman Islands Football Association president. Previously been hailed by Sepp Blatter as the potential successor to the position of FIFA president.

The United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the 'indictment alleges corruption that is rampant, systemic and deep-rooted both abroad and in the US.'
FBI director James B. Comey said that 'undisclosed and illegal payments, kickbacks and bribes became a way of doing business at FIFA.'
Fourteen people have been charged by the United States Department of Justice, including nine FIFA officials, as questioning by Swiss authorities began immediately.
