Hi, all, here is a trivia question for movie fans who are also aficianados of military music.

In "The Outlaw Josey Wales", during the credits montage, which depicts the Confederate irregulars in combat, the soundtrack is based on a fife and drum theme, that I think might go back to the Revolutionary War or earlier.

Does anyone happen to know if that is correct, that the piece is an actual military cadence, and if so, what is the title and when was it written or when did it first come into use?

Thanks in advance, and prosit!
Brad

In the meantime, I've learned that the theme is "Old 1812 Quickstep" and was in use as a cadence in the Civil War. I haven't found out yet when it was written or first came into use, though.

Prost!
