I've been mainly a K&C armour collector for the last few years. I also have a couple of HB tanks. I was wondering how the Figarti tanks/vehicles compare to these. Any thoughts, comments would be appreciated.

Figarti makes the best armored vehicles out there, as good or better than even the Gold Edition Honour Bound vehicles in my opinion quality wise (I have a Gold Edition Tiger, a Gold Edition Snorkel Sherman, 9 other HB vehicles, and several Figarti Vehicles, including 2 of the Shock and Awe Tigers and the M3 Grant "Cambrai", so I have a pretty good pool for the comparison). The 1:30 Scale Figarti stuff is an excellent match for the HB stuff scale wise.

I too have collected mainly K&C armour, but like Louis, I have several HB and Figarti pieces of armour to compare. Louis comments are well founded. My only concern about the Figarti armour is that some of the pieces are quite a lot more fragile than K&C or HB. The Figarti Panzer IV and Honey tanks are sturdy, The tigers with more detail are less sturdy. The Grant/Lee tanks with photo etched parts are quite fragile.

The colouring of the Figarti tanks is weatherbeaten, dark and faded. The HB tanks are somewhat dark with slightly brighter camo. The K&C tanks are a little cleaner and have a bit brighter camo. I have heard comments from some collectors that they do not like to mix the different manufacturers colours, but as there was wide variations in the field, I don't mind mixing them at all.

I have compared some tanks side by side. The earlier k&C tanks were called 1/30 scale but were closer to 1/32 scale and match up with the 1/32 scale Figarti. The newer K&C armour is an actual 1/30 scale and matches well with the 1/30 scale Figarti and the HB tanks.

Thanks Terry and Louis for the info.

I was eyeing either the Grant or the Tiger with interior. You mention that they may be somewhat frail. How much of a problem is this actually?

I have several K&C Tigers and like the Tunisian the best due to it's being what I consider more of a true 1/30 scale as the Whittman and Winter Tigers are smaller. Are the Figarti Tigers more like the early K&C or like the later Tunisian? Also, how are the figures. They all look more "weathered" than K&C figures?

I have one of the Figarti Tigers. Treefrog checed it before shipping but it arrived with a few interior pieces shaken loose. They were easily reglued. I do not think they are too fragile.

The Grant tank is one of my favourites but the fenders are fragile - they move slightly when pushed. Three of the four ends of the fenders were loose/broken and had to be reglued. Handling caused 2 armour plates on the fenders to detach from the framework and had to be reglued. You need to be careful not to pick the tank up by its sides or with one hand - I only pick it up one hand under the front and one hand under the back. I have had this conversation with other forum members in threads http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14045 and http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13888 and http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13865

Even with the fragility, I would still get the Grant tank, it is such a nice model.

I got 5...2 American Lee's, 1 Monty's Grant, and 2 Cambrai Grants. Beautiful tanks and will work well with the other Figarti's British Stuart tanks (Stuarts were later used as radio/observation tanks along with HQ Company Grant tanks).

Totally overlooked but great are the Figarti LVT series, I love, love, love the LVT4-A!!!

Not sure what you want a comparison of? We already discussed scale and colouring? The Figarti Tigers are the same size as the early K&C, all of which are noticeably smaller than the Tunisian Tiger.

Although the Wittman Tiger is undersized, I think it's a little bigger than the Figarti Tiger. WS 25 certainly is. AK 39 is full sized so quite a bit bigger than the Figarti Tiger.

Good eye Jazzeum. I put on my glasses and it is a little bigger. I think the most notable difference is the gun. But they still look good together.

In the last picture note the thickness of the mudguards over the tracks. See how much thinner they are on the Figarti. Possibly more accurate but also more fragile when handling. The fenders on the Figarti Grant are even thinner.

Thanks for all the info and pictures Terry. That helps a lot. I'm still undecided if I want to purchase the Tiger or the Grant. I like the fact that the Tiger has the full interior, but I already have several Tigers and if I have to choose, I might lean towards the Grant.

I was not going to get the Tiger as it was 1/32 scale, but in discussions with other Forum members learned that it would go with the Whittmann Tiger in terms of size. I had to have it for the interior. With rising production costs, a tank with an interior may not come along again at any reasonable price, or even at any price, for a very long time.

I had to have the Grant for my North Afrika collection and as K&C had already made one, it might be a while before they did an updated version.

I think all Figarti armour is rubbish - you shouldn't waste your money.

Let them all sit on the shelves until they are sold off at half price (then I will buy them all;)).:D

I am really looking forward to their next releases to go with my two Grants. I also have two Stuarts.
