Hi all, has anyone got a date on the Figarti and K&C luncheons? or dinners? and if so do you have to have tickets in advance?? looking forward to seeing you all this year, can't wait, will be my first...Sammy

In the last three years, the Lunch with Figarti has been on a Friday and the K&C Dinner on a Saturday, so the dates should be September 25 for the Lunch with Figarti and September 26 for the K&C Dinner.

Figarti usually starts its "Shock and Awe" announcements on the Forum a few weeks before the Chicago Show with collectors either signing up by posts and by sending e-mails. Last year, there were more collectors than spaces because Figarti allowed last second guests to attend (Clive Gande, the European distributer, and Matt Murphy, the U.S. one, had to sit in chairs along the wall).

Last year, the K&C Dinner was sponsored by Peter and Shannon Reuss of Treefrog, Mike and Myszka Hall of Sierra Toy Soldier Company, Tim Tyler of Troops of Time, and Bill Sager of Sager's Toy Soldiers. The dinner is not a forum event but is put on jointly by Sierra, Treefrog, Troops of Time and Sager's Toy Soldiers specifically for their customers as a thank you for their business and a chance for those collectors to meet and chat with Andy and the King & Country team. Last year, there were no official announcements on the Forum, with dealers either contacting their customers or notifying them via e-newsletters like the Treefrog Rivet. A $20 deposit was required to reserve the seat, but the collector got it back via a $20 voucher.

Look forward to seeing you at the Chicago Show.:)

Steven I remember Figartis lunch was on Friday and I believe the K&C dinners has also been on Friday. In other words the last couple of years both dinners were on Friday.
I hope so as I plan on leaving early Saturday evening.

Gary is right and Rick usually posts here an invitation a few weeks before the show.

Late June/early July is a little soon to start worrying about this.

I also have a question over the luncheons and dinners, do they both have door prizes, and if so what do the prizes consist of?

Not a door prize per se. At the Figarti lunch, they gave away a figure. This year it's supposed to be the Rommel figure they gave at the West Coaster.

At the K & C one, you had to buy a ticket, which you could use to redeem at one of the participating dealers, and you also received a figure.

I see! I guess I might change my plans and come down Friday morning so I can make the lunch and dinner!:D;)

Vic,

Both events are well worth attending, even if you didn't get a figure or whatever. Both Rick Figarti and Andy Nielsen are excellent speakers and they are a gold mine of information on how things happen in the hobby. They are both cagey about giving away too much on new releases but sometimes they drop hints. You get information about why some ranges aren't being expanded (for instance, despite requests on forums, the Russian tanks don't sell very fast - so we get fewer of them). Both men offer a neat insight on the background of producing figures for a living, and both men really seem to enjoy their work. I like the dealers, and enjoy seeing friends from this forum but these two meal events are the highlight of the show to me. If you do get to OTSN and if Ken Osen is doing any of his clinics - RUN do not walk to get in there! He is also a great presenter and an absolute gold mine of modeling information.

Hi Guys

If you take a look at Toy Soldier TV

you will find these films of both the Figarti and the K&C evening event.

they give you a good idea of what to expect.

Both great events, and worthwhile attending as a collector.

here is the link if you then scroll down you will find the talks:-
