At the Meeting with Figarti, Matt of Hobby Bunker announced that Hobby Bunker had commissioned an exclusive line of Wake Island figures. Matt said he specified the poses and did the research for these new figures. These will be U.S. Marines in the early WWII uniforms with the WWI helmets. The set shown had three running figures and Matt had stock at the show. Each figure has a distinctive face and is some of the best work that Figarti has done (imho :)) Another set will be arriving at Hobby Bunker in the next few weeks with about 8 more sets coming. Each figure is individually numbered with a total production of 70 sets. The item number and production date is also laser etched on base. Matt mentioned the truck used for the LRDG was also at Wake and said that civilian construction workers helped bring ammo to the Marines in the bunkers.

Carlos will be posting photos in the next few days.:)

Hi Steven,

This is exciting news! I anxiously await the photographs that Carlos will post!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Will this be available only through Hobby Bunker?

Matt of Hobby Bunker said he sent a copy of the Wake Island movie and references to Figarti when he commissioned the line. He mentioned a 30 cal water cooled machine gun set, civilian contractors, Japanese Special Landing Forces, and Japanese landing craft. I personally hope to see a 5" coastal gun set since one of the famous incidents from this fight was the sinking of the Japanese destroyer.

Great idea, but no one of the lines that I wil lbe collecting.

Do have fun with these releases all you other collectors

I might have bit on these if there had been a MG team in the first batch..Michael

As of right now Hobby Bunker, Inc. will be the only retailer. I may open it up to some dealers as more in the series is available. At this time I have about 6 sets of teh first set on hand and about a dozen of set 2 coming in this week. When the second set arrives I will try and post here as well as on hobbybunker.com

Thanks, Matt
