A fight breaks out in a small Spanish village courtyard when a small detachment of french troops runs into some light British and German troops. The Brits are caught by surprise but they manage to make a quick baracade from the frech with whatever they found laying around.

Way to go Tim. Very nice arrangements and scenery. Of course your choice of subject is extremely pleasing and encouraging to me. We cannot have too many Peninsula scenes. Thank much mate and please continue with the theme.:D

Very nice job Tim, really like the groundwork you've been using, multi coloring looks great and very realistic. Love the shots of the French storming into the courtyard, being urged on by the mounted officer the best.

Also like the mix of buildings you have; you could get a kings ransom for that K & C farmhouse facade these days, which you could turn into a raftload of plastics to paint up.

Thanks for taking the time to share your collection, you have the biggest Napoleonics collection I've ever seen (well, in 1/32nd scale anyway....;)).

Both an imaginative diorama, historically feasible...and an enviable collection of K&C (quite a few rare ones in there). Keep the photos coming; it's encouraging and inspiring.

Thanks guys! No one makes any good stuff to do a good Peninsula diorama.:( I wish some one do do some good Spanish Gurillas and a couple of fighting monks and even some fighting woman, they would be cool to set up some mini dioramas. The only stuff thats out there is British stuff and most have the wrong shakos for the time. The only british cavalry everyone makes is scotts greys and they only saw action at waterloo.:( No one makes any Spanish or portugees troops.:( I was thinking of doing another Peninsular dio with Brits against Nassua Troops. I wish someone would do some good Brunswickers, I know Patriot did some but they were gaint monsters and way to big for me.
Where is your Penisular dio Spitfrnd???:rolleyes:

Thanks George! That ground work is actualy bedding used for reptiles, its made from coconuts somehow? I mix it with various other ground cover to break up the look a bit but its real cheap and looks pretty good I think and hides the bases of the figures also.
So whats the going rate of that K&C farm house these days???:rolleyes::cool: I think I,ll hold onto it a bit longer unless the prices are going so crazy were I could pick up a boat load of painted METAL figures???? I,ve got the courtyard that goes with it also, that must be getting up there in price also???

Love the way you find stuff in unusual places to use for your collection, this is one of the joys of building dioramas, coming up with scenery to use.

The farm and courtyard go for megabucks, have a look on Ebay when you get a free minute.

Ok Tim, Eylau awaits..............or Borodino, so get cracking...........;)

Alas Tim, I am plagued with the same logistical limitations.:( I am getting close but for the forseeable future my British will have the wrong Shakos but hopefully will be joined by Scots. I am also waiting for some Green Jackets. The line French will be OK and there were even some few Middle Guard units left by Napoleon in Spain so I have a few options. I will shortly have some British Light Dragoons which I plan of making a tad more aggressive and Heavy Dragoons from Waterloo which will work for the late Peninsula. Some more and different Cuirassiers are also not too far off and I have a certain Conte lady that will adapt well to Spain. Buildings, as you know, are rather scarce.:( I am hoping the deficiencies wiil all addressed but probably not all of them for this year. We can only work with what we have.;)

It would have to be a Borodino diorama George, I just don,t have the figures to do Eylau. The uniform of the Russians was different at that point in time and all I have for Russians is 1812 era uniforms and the best part of that battle was the cavalry charge that saved the french from defeat and won the battle and I don,t have any Russian cavalry other then a few Delprado figures and a couple of oddball figures.:( We need some good russian cavalry figures. Some left over X-mas snow covered trees would work good as background scenics but what would work good as snow in bulk??? I think Eylau will have to wait awhile but Borodino was on my mind already as a soon to return to theme. I have a lot of figures for that!

You could always use some of the Alamo buildings that are available out there or just try and make some of your own, thats what I did and its much cheaper and a fun project also. Most of the buildings in these photos are buildings that I made myself. Just use your imagination and do a little research and you can custom make whatever YOU want. Give it a try and don,t get discouraged if the first couple don,t come out so great with a bit of practice they,ll get much better with each new building and you,ll learn from your mistakes.

Nice seeing that you got in some additional playtime in again last evening you sure to love creating your epict battle scenes as much as we enjoy seeing them taking place Tim. Once again thaks for sharing your creativity and play time with us....Joe

I would like to make my own buildings but I must confess I have never been that handy and always been somewhat demanding; not the best combination for that approach. That said, I have done some research on Spanish buildings of the period and have not found it so easy to find good photo examples. Even one of my friends with property in Spain has been of little help for that. So, if you can recommend a good source, it would be much appreciated.;)

I,ve got some paintings in various books and a few photos here and there of buildings from the era but not much. There was a web site I found that had some pics and write up about wellington and the Peninsular war with battle site pics and forts ect. but I can,t remember what it was called??? I saved a few photos and burned them to disc from my old computer but I,d have to do some digging to find them. When I come across them I,ll have to post them for you or a link to the site if I can remember what it was called?

Great stuff thanks Tim. I especially like the walking tour of the battlefields. So it is pretty much stone, stucco and tile; not much wood or brick as I thought. I wish someone made high stone walls like those. Perhaps I will start by tackling some of those.;):D I would prefer using real stone if I can find the right stuff. Maybe I will take a visit to the local sand and gravel dealer.;)

Excellent diorama. The Courtyard buildings are awesome as are all the little details like the wagon and other scenics.
