Some time ago, TG asked for suggestions re. historic figures. I would like to offer one that I think would be an awesome addition to the WWII Pacific campaign.
The Philippine resistance movement played a critical role in the war with Japan. A number of "Fighting Filipinos" or "guerrillas" fought the Japanese, obtained intelligence, rescued Allied POWs, and helped American missionaries escape the islands.
Just to name a few of these prominent historic figures:
- Colonel Wendell Fertig, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, guerrilla leader
- Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay Sr., guerrilla leader who became the 7th president of the Philippines
- Luis Taruc, Filipino Hukbalahap guerrilla leader
- Captain Nieves Fernandez, Filipina school teacher and resistance leader
Would love to see TG explore just a few of these Fighting Filipinos.
