A lot of discussion has occured regarding correct figure size. The chart below simplifies determining the actual size of a 1/30 figure in Millimeters. The average height of a man is 5'9", 69" or 1751 Millimeters. Dividing the size of the figure in Millimeters into 1751 gives the scale of the figure. Dividing the scale into 1751 gives the height the figure should be in Millimeters of a 5'9" man in that scale. The calculation also works for vehicles. The deck of a Tiger I is 1800mm high. Divided by 30 gives a scale deck height of 60mm.

..................................................Figure Size Conversion Chart

Can anyone please post pics of Napoleonics by Britain's alongside the Collector's Showcase?
Thanks.

At the risk of stating the obvious, those numbers would apply to figures standing straight with feet together. Given differences in stances and allowing for people above and below average height, there is a fair amount of latitude in matching figures to fall within a given scale.

As it obvious that humans are different sizes, scale should be used for weapons,headgear,etc.,etc.You should scale all the weapons and accroterments. You can see on some figures that scale wasn't taken into account for that figure.

The chart relates a figure size to a specific human male height of 5'9". The chart is designed to convey relative figure size. Plus or minus 3mm on a 60mm figure is within human norms. Plus or minus 6mm shifts the figure height to another scale. Example : a 1/30 scale 60mm figure minus 6mm equals 54mm or 1/32 scale, plus 6mm equals 66mm or 1/27 scale. Model weapons may or may not be accurate in scale. I have a 1/30 scale Thomas Gunn Hetzer with a 1/35 scale MG42. Polystone vehicles advertised to be 1/30 scale can range from 1/32 to 1/28 scale by actual measurement.

But they should be the scale. That's the problem.

I agree and I use the larger 67-68mm K&C and TCS figures with 1/25 scale vehicles; as they fall within the normal range of human height. Plus or minus 5 inches around a 5'9" mean except in extream cases. George patton was 6'4' tall; which was a giant in 1941-45.
