First Australian WWI documentary goes online - Battle of Pozieres (1 Viewer)

Hey mate, great films. I have visited the Australian national memorial at the site of the windmill at Pozieres several times and very moving it is too. The Aussie sacrifice and fighting skill will always be remembered here, a terrible battle and bitter fighting with high casualties all round. Pozieres has to be one the most famous places the Aussies went into action. Deepest respect to them.

Thanks for posting films

Thanks for posting the clips. Quite impressive that they are so clear. -- Al

I also had a good look at these movies yesterday, and was most impressed with them, seeing the troops as they were in 1916 on the Somme.

In 2008 we visited Pozieres amongst other sites, to see the exact place where my wife's grandfather (16 Bn AIF) was wounded in the fighting for Mouquet Farm, just north of the town, and realising that in this field there had been 20000 killed, was very sobering.

We also visted Bullecourt, the site of his other wounding in 1917, and my uncle's grave in Villers Brettoneux, and 18 year old kid.
