I have always collected the matte King & Country figures but have made the leap to glossy figures with my first Beau Geste purchase. I looked at many different glossy figures but liked these the best after learning about them in Chicago last year.

Does the Beau Geste website list all the sets made or just the sets currently available?

The Troopers of the Savage Division were commanded by Mikhail Romanov the brother of Nicholas. They were one of the few to remain loyal during the revolution.

Hi rcapps,

I believe only the currently available sets/figures appear on the Beau Geste website. I am an enthusiastic Beau Geste fan and I am glad to see another collector fall under Ana Donzino's spell.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Beau Geste miniatures are in a class by themselves. I only have a few sets but they're something else :)

Is there a way to find out what WWI sets were released in the past? More specific are there ever opportunities to acquire retired Beau Geste sets?

Hi rcapps,

I am unaware of any internet or printed source that might list the entire range, both past and present, of Beau Geste WWI figures. However, you might consider sending Ana Donzino a request for such information. In the past, Ana has proven to be very responsive to questions from collectors. It is possible she might supply you with the information you are seeking.

As a side note, I believe Beau Geste usually only retires figures when the molds have outlived their usefulness. Consequently, the numbers of sets retired in a given range is frequently a small number. If I am correct, you may discover that very few WWI sets have actually been retired.

In my experience, the opportunities of acquire retired Beau Geste figures has been quite limited. I follow eBay on a daily basis and such sets rarely appear there. Nevertheless, you never know when something desirable might show up, so watch carefully in order not to miss any opportunities to purchase desirable sets.

In my opinion, most Beau Geste collectors highly prize their figures and they tend to retain them in their collections. Further, my impression is that Beau Geste collectors are a minority of collectors when compared to collectors of the products of the larger manufacturers (i.e., King and Country, W. Britains, etc.). Consequently, the number of Beau Geste figures/sets residing in personal collections that could be available for resale is less than those produced by other popular manufacturers.

None of the above should discourage you from collecting Beau Geste figures. As you have discovered, they are beautiful and special. They are masterfully sculpted and they are lovingly painted by the most skillful of hands. Enjoy collecting them. I know I do!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Hi again rcapps,

Ha! :D:D:D I see Ana beat me to the punch! My fingers did not type quickly enough!

I suppose I could say, " I told you Ana was responsive!" :D:D I think I also suggested only a few WWI sets may have been retired. Whew! At least I did not mislead you!

Best of luck with your Beau Geste collection!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat ;)

I'm so glad that you liked your first Beau Geste set. Welcome to the BG Magic :)

Ana

PS: Dealers probably have some of the retired sets already. We might have some stock left. I'll check and let you know.

I loved the BG2 Austrian Mountain Troops and was sorry to see them retired. Pat is correct though, sometimes the molds just have to be retired because they get old and worn out and this set was one that fell to that fate and is no longer available. :(
I also agree that you don't see BG on the secondary market much. Luckily Treefrog has most of the line in stock at any given time :).

Here is another of my favorite Beau Geste sets because of the unique subject matter, Belgian Dog Cart and Maxime, with Ammunition Cart, also from the WWI collection:

Hi Shannon,

Great set with the Dog carts! I really enjoy Ana's attention to detail and love seeing the sets with dogs and soldiers they seem to be attracted to each other in every era.

Pat is understating the lack of sets from BG on the secondary market. We nearly never see any sets from BG on ebay, except the ones that are there now from a ebay seller who is there everyday. What we nearly never see is the unusual or unique items like the aforementioned Dog Cart set. In the past ten years I have made exactly one super Beau Geste find on Ebay and wish I could find more. But I think that speaks volumns to the amazing quality and unique subject matter and that collectors are not letting them go. So my advice to all is if you find a set on the secondary market and you can live with the price grab it up! They just dont come along very often.

Keep up the fantastic work Ana we really appreciate it!

Dave

Those Beau Geste cavalry look wonderful. Do you have a side view of these figures?
