On behalf of all First legion Collectors I must extend a round of applause to Matt Pavone and First legion....In a relatively short time frame they have brought toy soldier collecting to a whole other level......A unique style not a clone....The new releases of Stalingrad, the American Revolutiion Continental Militia, ACW, and now the Crusaders.......are simply amazing....Thank you for your commitment to excellence and the guts to do something very different and to do it to a near perfect level.....your efforts and products are to be recognized and applauded...... Thank you....and......Continued success.....Frank

Hear, hear; nicely said Frank. I would only add, don't forget the Napoleonic releases; they are not exactly too shabby either.;)

I agree to this,
great lines, excellent sculpting and painting, the variations of available poses are a treat, all in all a very pleasant addition to the Toy Soldier/Miniatures World.

yeap... variation of the poses... very unique.. no need for me anymore to buy more than one of each kind.. much much better !

I think for years collectors , dealers and business men alike have all talked and wondered out loud at what could be done if somehow someone could work together with the Russian Sculptors to have Russian connoisseur level figures produced in Asia at a fraction of the cost . The birth of First Legion is proof of what could and is being accomplished through such a partnership . I would like to add my voice to the others in appreciation for what has been a job well done , and wish them continued success in the future :). With the expansion of First Legion into more and more different periods of Military History discerning collectors from all over the world are being drawn to the quality that has become synonymous with the name First Legion . Their future looks very bright indeed :) All the best Gebhard

Guys.... the truth be made known......The First Legion website says it best..."you can collect toys, or a piece of history"....These figures seem to come alive....For me this company has re-sparked my interest and enthusiasm in collecting toy soldiers ... .....The poses, the painting, the quality and historical accuracy is un-matched.....It is not surprising to any of us who collect FL that they have become a major player.....They have arrived in a big way.

Crusaders will be my first FL purchase. That said, I've admired "from a distance" the progress this company has made-and it's been fun to watch.

Where else u get such a diversity

Frank-
I completly agree with your thoughts here. First Legion has filled the void I was experiencing with my collecting. Thier excellent paintwork combined with good research makes for an amazing product. Couldn't be happier with my purchases from Matt and his company.

The variation is indeed one of the best features but for Napoleonics, I certainly have a need for several of most kinds.;) No doubt though the variation and size of the releases makes the duplicates fit in all that much better with out appearing repetitive.

I agree with all of the previous posts on this thread, First Legion caught my eye when I decided to sell my K&C stuff, even after reading a ton of reviews and emails back and forth to Matt that it wasn't a concreate deal until I got my first shipment of my WWII Germans and was hooked line and sinker!!!!I have stated many a time the sculpts/painting/and detail to the smallest thing are taken in with First Legion, I only look forward to new and exciting things to come in the future with this company, what's that song..."future so bright ya gotta wear sheads":)...Sammy

Stalingrad has no SS troops. Waiting for this company to cover Wacht am Rhein. Then collect all troops and multiple Armored Fighting Vehicles. Already have HEER figures suitable for Ardennes Offensive

you wait to long you'll be missing the boat on some of these items my friend, Matt has not released any info on any retirements yet but I do know the Stugs/recon vehicle are on the last run as far as I know...Sammy

I agree, the variation that FL puts into most of its releases is a big selling point for me. Not only that, but even with 20 different poses, it is easy to see a coherent group set up. For example, the British Guards are all obviously doing the same thing, repelling cavalry. Can you use them for other activities, like skirmishing? Of course. But when you set all 19 of them up in a group, they are all 'doing the same thing'. I know that may not be the best explanation, but it makes sense in my head....

It seems better to have a consistency of action with the individual figures of a release, as opposed to a release of one or two firing poses, some marching poses and some at attention.

I agree with that too Noah. Interestingly though, with the removal/substitution or even different arrangement of a couple of figures, you can also change the activity of that group and still have it appear coherent. I hope that makes some sense. Anyway, I hope to demonstrate my effort to do that with some Chasseurs attacking a defending British Guard line (or visa versa) eventually.

Bill-
Can't wait to see what you have in the works. Your previous 'arrangements' have been excellent!

I get what you are saying and I think we are on the same page. To me, it comes down to having a group of figures that are all doing the same thing for my display. As you well know, the Napoleonic releases FL has done are a great example of this idea. Each release is 12-20 figures and each figure in that release is doing generally what the others are doing. Whether defending like the Brit Guards or advancing/attacking like the Prussian Fusiliers or Russian Grenadiers, each release is a coherent group.

As I said before, this seems infinitely better than a release that has numerous activities (firing, marching, at attention) split into only 6 or 8 figures.
