I have noticed other manufacturers recently producing some Eastern Front WWII (Russians;Germans etc)......Sorry guys but "TOO LATE"......The Stalingrad Series by First legion is the direction I will be taking my collection in regards to the Eastern Front Battles 1942-1943.....:) For me FL has had the most focus and commitment to this aspect of WWII....They have concentrated their efforts; and this collector will stay the Stalingrad course with First Legion.

Good choice mate; but then honestly how could you not feel that way? Every time I see these blokes I expect to start hearing them speak.:cool:

Exactly! They are awesome figures for the price. I really want to see the Soviet AFVs. I saw a picture on line recently that showed Soviet armor near Stalingrad. The photo showed an M-3 Stuart and an M-3 Lee. These two American contributions or a Willys Jeep might be interesting subjects.

It seems that FL has the edge on all others.. one of the key reasons is FL doesn't tend to make there figures so **** "bulky".. If FL ever decided to to German "parade" figures, it decimate the competition!!

When it comes to toy soldiers "Best" is subjective and dependant on the criteria applied.

Photography has always been one of my hobbies but it wasn't until the Stalingrad range was released that I got serious about taking pictures of miniatures. The figures/pieces are just so good I felt I had to give it my best effort. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a special photographic light specifically just for my miniature pictures. I'm sure as this range develops with scenics, weapons systems, AFVs, and every type of pose imaginable this will only become more fun.

If "Best" is defined by the amount of enjoyment experienced then this range is the best I have yet had the pleasure to play with.

I've been watching programs about the Eastern Front lately & must say First Legion have done there homework there figures look spot on

Have to agree on that ;)

Wow I think First Legion figures and tanks are great.I love the Russian war and First legion sculpts are right on the money.I can't say too much bad about them but---I can't see them in Australia in person. I may be wrong but I don't no of a dealer here.Lot's of dollars without a dealer. This is a problem for First Legion that they have to address in the future. First class soldiers with out First class service world wide.Just my Two pits worth.Keep up the good work First legion.Simmo.

Matt QUOTED:"the only difference between ours and theirs is that ours are so much more expensive." ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Matt, Your First Legion figures are indeed more expensive......They are also without a doubt....BETTER.....IMHO;)

Wayne has been removed from this thread. Please return to your FL conversation...

I have deleted a few post from here as I feel that they don't add anything to the original discussion. Please carry one with your assesments of the Stalingrad range :)

From photos this looks like the best of FL's ranges, including the Nap one, and this coming from a Nap collector (not FL's though, no room for everything:().

Well that is what you get for trying to be reasonable and fair in confronting issues. There was no bad feelings expressed or bad intent manifested. Just an explanation of how certain posts were interpreted and why certain behavior was inappropriate. I really think you should reconsider those deletions. I do not think they were either necessary, useful or appropriate. It is moderation like this that makes people believe the "management" here has favorites that they have a need to protect. How about this Scott, can I delete any of your posts that I feel do not add anything to the discussion?

This thread began as a thread to extol the virtues of FL Stalingrad and was waylaid by someone looking to pick a fight. Scott only worked to bring it back to the original topic. Once the offending posts were removed, those pertaining to those deleted posts didn't fit the flow of the thread anymore. Sometimes when that happens some 'normal' posts are taken down. This doesn't imply the person posting was out of line...it just means that it no longer fits the thread.

I guess I don't get your comment about 'favorites the management needs to protect.' The goal of the deletions was to allow the conversation to be about the virtues of FL Stalingrad. If the offending posts 'dissing' of FL are removed, what are we protecting but the conversation about the virtues of FL?

Scott is doing what the mod council instructed him to do.

There is a difference between removing posts that are offensive and removing whatever you feel like because some third person thinks it no longer fits the flow. The first is enforcing civility, something that I have enough reservations about as I have often noted. The second is just senseless censorship. Whether or not it fits the flow is irrelevant to whether it should be removed. More than half the posts in any thread do not fit the original flow but they are parts of conversations between members that made sense to those members and were likely suggested by something that happen in that thread. To paraphrase an old line "If you are going to think for me, I would just as soon you also support me." We have more than enough well meaning but blunt instrument thread policing as it is without adding the nebulous concept of "no longer fitting the flow" or "protecting the conversation" to the censor's instructions.

Neither Rob nor I said anything offensive to anyone and if our posts were a mild distraction to the discussion of the product, they could easily have been skipped. Does anyone here think anyone reads every word of any thread? I think the moderators have better things to do that decide what the flow is for any given thread. My suggestion on favorites was simply that I do not think you would have done that to Andy or Louis or a fair number of others that predate most of us here. I may be wrong but I think this may be the first "no longer fitting the flow" deletion I have yet seen. It was unnecessary, it was insulting, it was impolite and I really do not appreciate it.

My apologies to Matt, First Legion and their well deserved fans here for further disrupting the flow of an appreciation of their excellent products but sometimes somethings just need to be said. Judging from the emails I have gotten on this and similar posts that have been removed for no real justification, I am hardly alone in that thought. In fact, I think Matt would well understand.

My last comment on the matter.

It is common practice that when posts get removed, all the posts pertaining to the offending ones are removed as well. This in no way implies that the subsequent posters did anything out of line. It simply means that they were responding to posts that no longer exist, making them irrelevant. Sometimes the line between 'pertaining to' and 'not pertaining to' is a bit murky, so some judgement is called for on the part of the moderators. The goal is to not have the deleted posts derail the conversation.

You state:

That is simply untrue...just ask Shannon or Brad (who have done most of the moderating over the years). None have been immune from having posts deleted because they were responding to deleted ones. Yes, even Andy and Louis...

Now, back to those fine FL Stalingrad figures...quite impressive!

I'm sorry but this thread was needlessly "cut to ribbons" and without good cause......There were no ill feelings expressed by the participants in this discussion....Although opinions differed I do not feel that Wayne or anyone else was out of line.....Members must be allowed to express themselves on this forum....."Without being censored to death".....Many posts that were deleted were a reasonable dialog of how many of us plan our collections and the directions we are taking with them...THEREFORE....I also ask: "who are you trying to protect???"....and what is the purpose of this censorship?......

1984, perhaps First Legion will apply the excellence in their Stalingrad figures to a line about that most insightful and more than a little frightening view of the substitution of the thoughts of a few for the values of the many. If so it would fit rather nicely into the theme of things (or thinking) of some it would seem, and their very skillfully sculpted facial features would definitely be of value. And that is my last coment on these deletions.

I have to say that I agree with this. I have no idea what happened with the deletions or what not or why Wayne was removed from posting and I really don't agree with either. He and I/our customers certainly don't see eye to eye obviously, but we're all big boys and in my opinion the moderating does a lot more to disrupt the thread than the back and forth between forum members does. I understand that the moderating is done with the best intentions, but as they say, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions...."

At least before people were talking about the products, love them or hate them or otherwise. Now all anyone is talking about is moderation..........

speaking of moderation i wish i could stop buying your germans!!!:D god help my credit card
