Hi All,

This was probably my first mounted figure done in earnest. Essentially a mongrel piece (see the Historex dog), the piece was made from a variety of sources. At that time, I could never do a proper Airfix kit nor could I have done a Historex kit either. So freeform modelling was the answer.

The head was from scalelink, the torso was some milliput shape with frogging detail sculpted in, Historex arms, legs and mounted on a Britains horse with Airfix horse head. Airfix pistol holsters, Historex sabretache, theatrical hair for tail and mane, other details and the tiger skins were sculpted from duro putty. Reference was a MM article on Hussars Royaux by Bob Marrion.

I may redo this piece in the future, who knows.

Excellent piece, Vic!

I'd leave it alone, and just create a brand new one, if I wanted to revisit the subject. Leave it as an example of your work from that time.

Prost!

Hello Brad,

thanks for your very kind inputs. I was thinking that although I like the figure, the horse may be a bit too flea-bitten for royal hussars who are also light cavalry.

OK, I'll leave it alone for now and will go for refurbishing the 1st Hussars 1813 instead.
