Thsi is my first real attempt at a diorama, I was almost too embarrassed to post it considering the work that shows up on here.
But I won't get better without practice and corrections, so here goes.

I used pink foam for a base for the first time , I did not have a hotknife so I used a electric carving knife.(buying a cutter now)
While most guys suggested using a mixture of pop and sand I had some left over drywall mud from dry walling my back garage, so I used that for a base cause it was free, and after it dried I just used a combination of woodland scenic turfs and layered them over the dried mud which drying white helped with the snow effect. I did have a old tester brown model paint so I painted the side of the incline before using turf and snow

I don't think it's very good but I assume I will get better as I do more . I also think the colors do not blend as well as they should but I only worked with what I had laying around because I wanted to do my first one on the cheap and spend more as I learn to get better.

Here is a few while it was being worked on with a few WP figs and ED and NMA panzers.
I just like these new figures and figured I would show em.
I will box it in with wood sides and cut the background to fit soon.
I did not put tanks tracks on the road because I want to use it for other time periods

Congratulations Chuck, quite frankly IMHO you did a really great job, especially considering this is your first! Practice makes perfect so you will improve on every one you build. The only suggestion I may give you is to try to hide the bases bellow the snow and turf/mud effect.

Congrats on jumping in. I give everyone who does this credit. I’m always so afraid to even try.

Really nice Chuck. Certainly easier when you are working with great figures and vehicles, hard to go wrong. Looking forward to many more scenes. Robin.

You've done yourself proud with such a fine scene, nothing wrong with it I can spot. I'd be proud to make such a diorama. Well done and carry on ! :salute::

Steve

Thanks all,
I didn't hide the bases because I'm not sure on placement of figures yet
and I want to make some improvements still.
I really want to turn the road to mud instead of the dirt look I have now.
And I'll be working on that hopefully this weekend just have to figure out how.
Chuck

Looks good Chuck. Once you get your feet wet in the dio making process, it's hard to stop. Experimenting with different materials and ideas is part of the fun. We all are learning something new all the time. The main thing is to have fun and be willing to try different things/methods. Good luck and look forward to seeing some more of your work in the future.

I was not very happy with the base and thought I try to redo it.
