MATT,

In the old pre painted picture posted on your website there appeared to be a totally different standard bearer for the cuirassiers. He has been wounded and is passing the flag to another trooper. Will these figures still be made and if so when?

Can't slip anything past you! Quite possibly, but not for this release of the 5th Cuirassiers.

Great question but I would assume that what is shown now are the pre-production versions and hence slightly different than the old sculpts.

Just my personal preference, but I like the new version. They are a beautiful release

Yes I am with you on that too. I think it was a delay well spent and I can't wait to get my little hands on them.

I prefer the wounded one. The new 5th Cuirassier standard bearer looks to be the same as the Carabinier's standard bearer, NAP0073, with just a different head and paint job.

It's not, the cuirassier figure sculpts including the standard bearer are totally different and unique sculpts done by a different sculptor than the Carabiniers.

Yes there are some similarities. Since the Carabiniers were not in the Peninsula, I didn't get those so it doesn't matter much to me. The wounded figure is more dramatic of course.

Matt,

Thank you, I stand corrected. The poses thou are very similar. The fact that you are not just using repainted older figures is why I love FL products. Not that there is anything wrong with doing that if it makes for more possible figures. I am looking forward to purchasing all of the cuirassiers. However, right now I am building up my French infantry.

I don't think there were very many cuirassiers used in the Peninsula either. I can only think of one, the 13th. You can often see them shown with local brown cloth coats instead of the normal blue coats. In the Peninsula French cavalry was made up of Dragoon units mainly. I am only talking from memory so you may be able to prove me wrong about this.

Napoleon perfered to keep his heavy cavalry with him.

You are not far off mate; there were a number on unattached Cuirassier squadrons in the Peninsula left over after Napoleon's invasion of Spain. They eventually were joined with the 13th that remained for the duration of the wars. The use of brown cloth was fairly universal for many French units as the wars progressed and uniform replacements were scarce. The 13th was no exception. Indeed the Hussards and the Dragoons were the major French cavalry in the Peninsula. The point for me though is that the Cuirassiers were indeed active in the Peninsula but apart from one brief period prior to their change to armored uniforms, the Carabiniers were not. That is why sadly I have passed on them. Rest assured though, once we have the Rifles, I will renew my lobbying for Dragoons (the French "green lads") with great vigor.;)

...Bill I think you should change your avatar to mine! :D

Why wait for the Dragoons? Release them at the same time time, Around St. Patrick's Day maybe! Now that would be worth hoisting a pint to!!

Though sooner is always better, wouldn't that be the cat's meow?:p:cool::D

Maybe if you offered to trade your next Prussian release for the French Dragoons we could obtain that result.:p;):D

I'd like to have the French Dragoons also, but I think we need some more Prussians first . They have been ignored far to long IMO ;) Thank GOD for First Legion .All the best Gebhard
