Hello,

could anybody recommend a matt OIL-BASED Varnish to seal and protect a painted figure and making it look really matt please ? I tried a few of the standard brands Humbrol, Revell and others from the Hobby-Stores but I am not pleased with any of those {sm2}.
The finished figures still look "shiny" to a certain degree, regardless how much thinner I am using to dilute the varnish. I brush-paint the varnish onto my figures because I do not like using an airbrush for this job.
Any advice is welcome
Regards

Lifecolor, from Italy. It's waterbased, but besides Polly S,which is hard to get now,it's the only flat I've tried that works almost all the time.Certain colors, like dark blue and green, take more than 1 coat.

Sorry, I use Testor's DullCote for matting finishes, so I can't speak to hand-brushing or which one to select.

Prost!

I use Testors dullcote also in a spray can. I have also had good results with Tamiya (not sure they do anything oil based though.)

Thank you all for your replies. I will consider Lifecolor as well but I really need an oil-based product since I will need to seal gouache painted areas as well - not a good idea doing that with waterbased varnish.I got to see how to get a rattle can of Testors conculting the internet.see how it will go.
Thanks again
