To the people of Florida and the Caribbean your fellow Americans and many others around the world I'm sure are thinking of you and pray for your safety from this horrific storm.

Would like to add that I hope Tim Tyler of Troops of Time and his wonderful staff in Jacksonville all stay high and dry. -- Al

Let me also pass along my best wishes for the folks of Florida and surrounding states.

I have three sets of friends in Florida, two in Naples and one in further up in Jacksonville.
The two in Naples have evacuated, but with a lot of emotion and tears.
I can not imagine leaving my home and not knowing if I will ever see it again.:redface2:

The ones in Jacksonville have decided to stay, as they built their home only a few years ago and constructed it "exceeding" hurricane code standards.
A big risk but their choice.

A prayer for all!

It will be bad Naples.

The storm is just passing the SW edge of the ST high that has kept it from turning N so soon we will have a better idea of what to expect.

I am a Floridian so have seen 67 years of storms in FL. In 2004 Charlie came over our house at 130 MPH. 3 hurricanes hit FL that year.

I am in Winter Springs, 25 miles N of Orlando. Based on the latest NHC information it should not be too bad where I am or at least not was expected two days ago.

Water is not usually a problem here as when the home was built the city put a 10" drain in my back yard that connects to a storm drain. That's the good news, the bad news is sometimes having to go out and get the leaf trash off of it in 80 MPH winds and rain blowing sideways, in the dark, to keep the water from rising. Great fun.

hey Donnie...Tim...

hope Irma spares your houses and families...
I'm sure as a long time Floridians...
that you two have flood and windstorm...
good luck buddies...

I just came back from a "benefit" Lobster and Steak bake at my American Legion Post 42 (Wells-Hussey) in Damariscotta, Me.

We had planned on sending the proceeds to our Legion brothers and sisters in TX, but now it appears we need to see where it was needed the most.

We were planning on 200 people @ $15.00. All the food, drinks, paper plates and such were donated by local stores so 100% will go to the victims of Harvey and Irma .... Jose and more ....:redface2: We were hoping for $3,000

We were astounded to see far more than the 200 people show up, to simply give us a donations and not come for the food. {sm3}

At the end of the day we had received $6,172 ..... {sm4} {sm3} {sm4}THE BEST PEOPLE LIVE HERE IN MAINE!
