A suggestion

for the wall :
paint it humbrol sand
let it dry
now paint it oil burned Sienna with lot of additive, and wipe directly with a sponge
drybrush with yellow ochre ( very small quantity with a round brush ( a brush withiut tip )
mix a bit of white to the yellow ochre, dry brush again.. add white, light dry brush... add white, very light drybrush

Try it

Looks quite different when painted, you did a good job Tom. Your skill in sculpting is amazing. Robin.

Thanks for the advice...I am not really into painting...my wife is into craft,manly needle work but she has the odd tube of paint lying around and I use that...I will check out the paints next time I go to the craft store with her...I like your yellow variations...I have a large Flour and salt landscape made and not too sure what to paint it...just had a thought..I use water based ..flat matt paint...easy to use and a tube of paint lasts forever...regards TomB

Hi Tom you are very creative and I am very interested in you floor mix recipe . Like how many grams of flour and salt to how many litters of water. I too think that you need to learn how to choose your paint colour and learn simple dry brushing to get far better results . I think I will give it a try and make something small and paint it to help you get a look at what can be down very easily . Chris.:salute::

Here a picture of a dio, I made in the 70ies, applying the described technique to the walls and door
Plaster DCS production ( early Verlinden )
Figures are Ensign, metal, 54mm painted with humbrol and oils
