Foam Bricks (1 Viewer)

I've been working with foam for a while and was wondering if anyone knew how to make brick patterns on the foam.

I can't find the original thread, but here's an example of how I do it:

Mark the spaces for the mortar lines:

On the other side of this piece, I did a concreted over brickwork with battle damage showing the brickwork underneath, the line marking where the damage would start:

Using a biro / ball point pen and a ruler, I marked the horizontal lines in the foam first, pushing in hard enough to score the foam, and then alternate vertical scores:

Back on to the other side, I sliced a couple of mm out of the damaged area:

I then marked out the 'exposed' brickwork in the same way:

added a few cracks etc in the concrete:

then a bit of battle scarring:

then sloshed on a bit of dark colored paint all over, followed by drybrushing of lighter colours.

Hope that's of use,

Simon

I do it the same way also most of the time. It's a great way to make brick work. Thanks Simon.

Thanks Mark, it's brick work for a diorama called, Stalingrad Factory which resides now in Wisconsin.

You guys are great.Do you do custom work for any collector or do you do only professional like for museums or movies?

Thanks for the nice compliment. This diorama is one of my all time favorites. I'd like the build something like that for myself one day to keep.
Here is minor brickwork which I like to make also.

I recommend that everybody try out the foam and follow the steps above with a little creativity.
