Never knew this before, but apparently the germans used helicopters in WWII!

Don't know if the Focke Achgelis Fa 223 is aesthetically pleasing to the eye , but its certainly different

They also produced a smaller one Flettner FL-282 but the factory was destroyed before large scale production

I knew they had a small one to take off from certain U-Boats as a scouting platform, but I didn't know they were built in any numbers.

This is actually a good question. Is Andy going to make a Helicopter in the upgraded version like the new Warbirds? I for one would love to see this.

I think 20 of the Achgelis Fa 223 were built, here are the pics I came across, not the most pretty bird:)

Very interesting pics! For me, what makes WWII so interesting to collect is the rapid advancement of technology during the war. From bi-planes to jet fighters and everything in between. Its certainly gives manufactures a wide variety of vehicles, planes, etc to develop.

That would be the Fa-330-they were known as "Wagtails." There were a fair number made & used. There was a tether of sort that kept it attached to the sub and they were obviously used for reconnaissance as an aerial kite so to speak. I have a flown cover signed by a "wagtail" pilot. Unusual & interesting indeed!
