I recently discovered that the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC owns this Mahdist Jibbeh or tunic dating from 1881-1898

Like most textiles or costumes it is not on regular display to prevent fading, etc. My guess is that if you really wanted to see it you could contact the Costume Institute at the Museum
