Good Morning Treefrog members. My intention is to post a few thoughts about the toy soldier hobby over here on treefrog. I have resisted doing so as I enjoyed the other chat line and its conversation most intensly and was disapointed when it was shut down. Many of us stayed in comunication by E mail for a length of time. Six of us even met at the Chicago show for a kind of reunion of sorts. After speaking to Eric, who sponsored the Toy Soldier Chat line, it looks as though it will not be up and running anytime soon. That being the case I thought that I would check in here and see if my former inthusiasm can be renewed. Few of the former members of Toy Soldier chat line transfered over to treefrog. If so, I may be out of place over here. Well, I will give it a try and test the waters.

Be well and stay dry, The Skipper

Welcome Skipper:

Jump into the water its warm. It’s different over here but most things are in life.

Carlos

Skipper,

I think you and the other people from Toy Soldier Chat will find a home here so please consider joining and participating.

While in Chicago I found out that Eric doesn't plan to resuscitate Toy Soldier Chat so that forum is indeed gone.

That is too bad about the TSC forum. Welcome skipper.

Cheers Skipper:

Welcome to the TREEFROG Squadron! Hopefully, you will recruit some of your other friends and develop the conversations & comradery you experieced before on TSC-and even better yet, make some new friends!

All The Best,

Welcome aboard Skipper you'll find that you'll feel quite at home here and you'll be joining some of the finest chatter boxes found on any forum on the subject....The Lt.

Welcome Skipper, I had just signed up to TSC, the week it must have gone down. I was waiting to be confirmed, no one ever got in touch with me. I later learned all this stuff about it being down. I think you and all the former members, will be welcomed over hear. This fourm covers just about everything. Glad to have ya, Mike:)

Good morning Treefrog Members. What a pleasant surprise to experience such a harty welcome after loging on yesterday. Certainly a pleasant way to start my journey here at Treefrog. As I noted yesterday I have also kept in communication with some of the former members of TSC. I will make a note to all of them regarding my welcome over here. Killroy did not recieve such an all enclusive welcome over at TSC. He and I talk frequently and I will invite him and the others to join Treefrog as one of you suggested. The harty welcome is an invitation to look forward to. My collecting tastes are wide and I also have a interest in the 'behind the scenes' information that makes collecting more than simply filling up the selves with lotes of lead and plastic. So I will check out several of the more recent posting and see whats of interest.
Until then, stay dry and be well, Skipper

Hi Skipper,

I don't know if you remember me from the Toy Soldier Chat, but I was frequently there. At the same time, I was also participating on Treefrog. I have always felt very welcome on both forums, so I believe your participation on Treefrog will be as exciting, as fun, as friendly, and as informative as the Toy Soldier Chat was. If you continue to be in contact with "orphaned" Toy Soldier Chat members, please encourge them to join our ranks here. I know I would welcome/enjoy Toy Soldier Chat friends with whom I have missed interacting. Not only will I enjoy interacting with you, but I most certainly would enjoy Killroy's presence.

Again, welcome to Treefrog! I look forward to your future involvement with us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I used to view as a guest and enjoyed Marc T's step by step buildings and diorama posts, shame it went down.

Good afternoon Treefrog members. One of you asked what I collect in particular. Well, I am in the process of making that determination myself. World War Two seems to be the focus of my fascination. In this area I must have a dozen or so different manufacturers to which I am in the process of sorting out which one I would like to focus on. Not an easy task as many of you know. Some of the vintage pcs are hard to resist such as the composites and the metal pcs. Unlike many of you, I have plenty of space and the finances to make more than a few of my collector friends jealous. One of my favorite web sites is www.germantoys.de.
As for collector friends, many have crossed my path and more than several have taken me in as collaborators in sin. Yes Pat, I have read more than a few of your postings on Toy Soldier Chat. A gentle man at heart who appears to have an open mind on topics. Not exactly a quality found throughout the hobby but one sorely needed at times. Good for you.
I spent some time with Killroy in Chicago. He is an avid collector of the toy soldier medical field of which he served for so long. He lives in the midwest, as I do, so we have met for show and tell. He is more than eager to do both. Our last meeting was planned so as not to interfere with his peace demostrations in downtown Chicago. I also spend some time with Marc T playing with styrofoam in his basement. If anyone is curious as what he is up to, I have pictures and more than a little insight as to what he is destroying as of late. God only knows how many KC aircraft he has destroyed for Twinky and others for their mock ups. Now he is building several scratch built planes like Gorden did at the Chicago show. That should save some poor KC plane from being the next victim.
Well I hope this brings you up to date on my comings and goings. Be well and stay dry.

The Skipper.

Skipper,

How is Twinky? The last time we heard about him over on TSC he was not doing well. Hope he is better. Please give him my regards. Hopefully, he'll remember me.

Good morning Treefrog members. It is 75 degrees today and summer continues here in the midwest. Our Chicago baseball team, the Cubs, continue to make the series a cliff hanger by giving up the first two games of the series. Now it is a must win game of the goat wins again.

As per Brads request about Twinky, I have no first hand knowledge of Twinky or his health. I was never in contact with him on a personal basis. He was a very private person to say the least. With that said, it is my understanding that he has passed away and his daughter is very unhappy with all the collectors that desended on the estate to see if they could make off with any of his collection. It is a good thing that my name was not on that list as she apparently made a personal statement to the effect that she would rather destroy the collection than watch it fought over. This may not be a reflection on the entire field of collectors but it does make a statement about those that it does. Somehow picturing his daughter in the back yard with a shovel, digging a hole to dispose of his collection, is not a pretty picture. In any event, I may have to face a simiular situation myself in the near future. Not all collections are forever. The former GI Joe of TSC ,would be mortified to know that the estate of Zane Grey is to be auctioned off by the family for financial gain. The fact remains that these collections have value and others want 'their fair share' in building their own collections of worth.

Thats all I know for today, be well and stay dry.

The Captain.

Skipper,

Sorry to hear about Twinky. If possible, please give his daughter my condolences. I don't blame her for being ticked off. It's like vultures picking over a corpse. Rather disgusting.
