Here are some Italeri plastics I converted and painted up along with a few Blackcat metal grenadier kits I painted also in a quick set up so I could see how they looked sitting inside my foam battery.
These guys were a lot of fun to convert and paint up! I post a few other pictures of them in the plastics how to section and explained a bit of what I did as far as conversions there also.
Here are the pics!

Really cool fortification Tim...love the discharge from the cannons and the "bb" cannonball stacks....very creative....

how did you make the plumes of smoke and fire discharge from the cannons...very nice...

looks like you did a lot of tree limb collecting and whittling for the perimiter and the defense battery.

Hi Tim

Absolutely fantastic Nap diorama you have there,Love your photo with the supply wagon and drivers in a rest scene , once again Tim very impressive collection you have there.!!!:D:D:D.

Very best wishes Mark.

Very impressive diorama, full of detail and imagination, love the infantry officer marshaling reinforcements into the stockade.

Thanks Mike! I got jealous of all those great dioramas you have been doing these days and had a jonesing to do something myself.

Those plumes of some are real easy to make!, its just some paint squished into cotton. Just pull apart some cotton into the shape of the cannon discharge and add the paint.
I started with blue near the muzzle then added red, then yellow and mixed (blended)them into each other which created orange in the middle and also a bit of grey after the yellow.
I plan on making a burning shelled out house in the future with this effect and also have some real near future little camp fires in mind with this effect also!
I plan on using some metal washers for a base then cover and terain then with 2 part putty and flock add some rocks in a small circle and stack some small twiggs around a similar plume of some to the ones coming out of the cannons. And you,ll have a neat litttle camp fire.

Tim...really impressed with your fortification...

so...as usual...hehehehe...

I'm stealing your ideas...

Remember...copying is the best form of flattery...

I have chopped a ton of twigs...need to get some foam...but will get started this week I hope...also hope it turns out as well as yours...

I want to call you to say hi and pick your brain...PM me your number and a good time to call...sorry...I lost it some time ago...thanks...
