Someone has contacted the forum wanting to know of a source for a figure of Frederick the Great in 54-58mm for a gift for a collecting friend.

Anyone know of a product or source to help her out?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

Best regards,

Here are two pictures of Frederick the Great, Scott is refering to, offered by Tradition.
The mounted one comes at GBP 73.00 and the standing one for GBP 34.00.
The scale is 54mm

Tradition of London did make this one

but he's not listed now, so retired from the toy listing.

Ulrich Puchala has a few great frigures and are available from Mueritz-Miniaturen in Germany

Navigate this website shop to find them in the 18c listing.

Here is one of my painting of Frederick the Great & 11th Cuirassier "after Kolin"

Also try Berlin Zinnfiguren shop and look under Miniwelt.

I hope that helps.

The standing Frederick the Great figure is still listed under Model Soldiers, not in the Toy Soldier section.

Konrad,

the figure i have shown you is Tradition Toy Soldier #101 and the one you have show in Model Figure #T5409 according to the catalog I have here. I got this in London in 2000 so its an older catalog but has many of the now retired figures, like my Frederick.

many of the toy figures have been retired :( , but luckily not many of the Model ones :)

regards,

John

Hi, all! A little late to the party, but you've mentioned the same ones I'd have mentioned.

The Tradition figures are both still available at Tradition's website, by the way.

Rylit also produces a couple of figures of Frederick in 54mm; an email to Frau Litterscheidt via her website will return ordering info.

Shannon, is your friend looking for a painted figure, or a kit that he would paint for his friend? Ulrich Puchala's Frederick figures are much better than the Tradition figures, in terms of detail, but of course, someone would have to paint the figure first. If your friend is willing to go up in scale, Ulrich started sculpting 100mm figures a couple of years ago, and he has some figures of Frederick in that line, too.

The only other figures I can think of are out of print, like the old Stadden 54mm figures of Frederick, from the custom figure range, the figure by Old Guard, depicting Frederick walking with his greyhounds, the Franklin Mint figure, or the one by Archiv-Verlag in Germany.

Prost!

I forgot to mention the German maker Peipp, too, he has a couple of figures of Frederick in 54mm in his catalog. Peipp's figures can also be purchased from Scholtz' Berliner Zinnfiguren (www.zinnfigur.com)

Prost!
