I made this figure many years ago. She represents a cantiniere of the Dragoons in a fantaissin costume. The head was a U Puchala casting, hands and heelshoes from Historex. The rest was putty sculpted on a wire armature. Around 1993 I think, I was making so many figures, some with wire armatures and some without. The main putty used was a mix of green kneadatite and white milliput.

As I have decided to refurbish the figure, I carved away the sleeves and trousers to reveal this light-green mixed putty. Historex cuffs were added.

I chanced upon another Mokarex cantiniere wearing a bicorne. However, the head and upper torso appeared too small in proportion. Hence I decided to snip off the head and substituted it with another head and bicorne. The best (and only?) match for a cantiniere wearing a bicorne is a Voltigeur of the Imperial Garde. I have built up the upper torso and arms. The hands have also been substituted.

I noted that the cantinieres wore layers of frilly petticoats underneath their skirts. So using a pyrogravure, I made a series of stabs into the underside of the skirt. I removed the figure base to do this properly. So here is a questionable picture of the underside of the skirt....:)

I picked up this figure and resolved to complete the sculpting in a couple of days. This figure is to represent a cantiniere of the Voltigeurs of the Guard. The trousers were bulked out.
The hat, coiffure, tunic, lapels, buttons, cuffs, frilly waistcoat and cask sling were all sculpted. The figure was undercoated in matt white and underpainting has started.

I remodelled the hat and painted it black. The tunic and skirt were also repainted a dark blue.

I found the body and head of the first cantiniere. I think I'll have another go at it.

Here are the final pics of the converted Café Storme/Mokarex cantininere.

I am now going through my collection and noticed that this figure could be improved. I scrapped off the imperfections including the left eye and sculpted in fuller cuff turnbacks.

Remember the other cantiniere? She caught my eye the other day and I took her out and tore into that malleable duro putty, ripping it away and then replacing it with proper putty. Also made her marginally taller. Don’t tk that I can replace Stephen king for prose…hahaha.
