Hey Mates!:) I'm really interested in the new FFL figures, does anyone know if one could convert/modify them to French Indochina such as for Dien Bien Phu in 1954? Cheers! Vick

Wow!, that is interesting, I hope It can be done.

I've had a look at the Del Prado #79 Men At War figures but he is 1957, BUT the booklet does show the FFL in Indo China, but they seem to be wearing US based webbing much like the US in Vietnam, a decade later.

I'd say that the North African WW2 wouldn't suit Indo China, but lets see what other say.

These couldn't really be used in an Indochina setting unfortunately. As Obee pointed out, by the time the French forces returned to French Indochina they were using predominantly American webbing & equipment, not the leather gear featured on the models. Although I should add that some of the indigenous troops were still using the earlier equipment for quite a while. And after a quick glance through my reference books I cannot find any combat related pix where the Legion are wearing shorts or the desert style uniform of these figures.

A pity, French Indochina is my big interest and I was fortunate enough to visit Dien Bien Phu in 2009. A really rewarding trip, the Vietnamese have preserved the main sites quite well and there is still lots of relics of the battlefield to be seen around the town.
