Here is another mystery set from my collection from the 1950s: a set of 4 Renaissance era halberdiers with "Made in France" stamped on the bottom of each figure. I wonder if they might be Mignot? I believe I got them at Peter Blum's well-known Soldier shop in NYC.

Randy,

Yes, those are Mignot figures. Look to be from the early 60s. More than likely they would have been part of a larger set of 8 or 12 figures, but Mignot did put four man sets. In their Napoleonic range those sets would include an officer, a drummer, a flag bearer and one man-at-arms.

Best!

Thanks Cole.

I know that the set I bought only had these 4. Unfortunately I no longer have the box. Why is one of the halberds different? Do you know if the set had a name? Are they Renaissance as I suggested?

Thanks,

Randy

Randy,

I away from my books right now, but when I get back to campus I will look it up for you, I think you are right about Renaissance. I only know the Napoleonic sets off the top of my head as those are the ones I collect.

I checked the Blondieau Book. They are Renaissance and the book notes that there are two types of tips for the halberds. No reason given.
