Continuing an earlier discussion, for those interested in the French SS units there exsists a book by Richard Landwehr called "Charlemagne's Legionnaires: French Volunteers of the Waffen SS, 1943-45". Published by Bibliophile Legion Books in 1989, the original hardback is quite expensive. A reprint in paperback is now available under the "French Volunteers of the Waffen SS" title. Articles of War carries it. It is quite an interesting book and covers the raising of the unit to its destruction in the streets of Berlin. It is the best book available on the subject but one has to be able to ignore the right-wing bombast of the author. It is illustrated and I believe worth having for the pictures and the detailed writing on the military operations. Good research overall. -- lancer
