A photo montage of our December game.
Played on a 9' x 5' table, 3 players, 1 day!
Really enjoyed it! This was the second time we've had our collections out in full and much larger than the first.
Some photos are posed, whilst we had everything out of the cupboard we got a bit carried away in setting up scenes...they are not all from the game, can't wait for another one, planning one for the summer.

A very impressive assembly of figures.
Looks like all troops were there for the game day.
I also like your video of the last London Show displays.
Thanks for posting.

Finally got a chance to view the video --- very well done and the pieces do work together, even the figures from St. Francis. Thanks.

Wow, those reinforcement photos really look great. Where did the ladder come from? Is it part of the set? All those figures really work well together, even if you have some Virginia deserters on the French side. :)

Hi Matthew, the ladder is from the Blockhouse. well spotted, you must really have been looking closely.
Re deserters, we have a lot more Brits than French, so the French side tends to get the Indians and anyone not wearing Red!
(If you have room in your bag, bring French!) ;)

The block house I missed getting, it was a choice of another unit or the block house and the unit won. I wonder if John might still some ladders or consider releasing them as a stand alone with other camp equipment?

I wish I had room in the luggage, those boxes take up a lot of space. But my son could get by with just his cloths he flies in with. Maybe I could convince my wife to use his suitcase for twenty boxes of French. :)

James, the pictures are very nice. Unforunately the collector fights a constant battle to find the space to display.

Matt, when I saw the ladder I also thought will be nice an accessory set to equip a civil/military camp (ladders, barrels, cannon balls, tables, muskets, tricorns, bags etc.), for John would a joke to mould all these items.
However I do not believe the cases exist at the time of the French Indian Wars.

Carlo

Carlo, yes agreed, my collection has lived in its boxes until recently... Most of my buildings are still in boxes and only come out for a game, whilst I now have some shelves, 1 under the television I think I will have to put away as my friends children are growing and can nearly reach it.

Regarding the cases, they are just generic boxes we had, however I would have thought a tea chest or something similar would have existed? Certainly I would have thought furniture would have been boxed up for a sea voyage.....? But I am just guessing, can't find any evidence..... Can you offer knowledge on this subject?

Regarding a set of dio 'props' barrels etc, I find the set 'his first musket' comes with a useful pile. Interestingly at the March Toy Soldier Show John was mentioning just such a set as a good idea, so I am sure he has one on his list, sadly I suspect something like that would be fairly low down.

James, really I'm not fully sure but I remember I read that the first wooden cases/crates were used for military purposes during the Napoleonic period. Wooden boxes like trunks existed for civil room/transport uses. Barrels were used for liquids, dried fish or meat, powder, bags for other supplies like grain and legumes.
