Anybody who knows me here knows that the FIW is my favorite area of interest, but my interests is not just the last war of the 1754-1763 period but all of them,King William's War 1689-97,Queen Anne's War 1701-13 and King George's War 1744-48.But even before this there were wars from the 1640's up until King William's war. These wars were called in the broadest sense the Beaver Wars.Tribes were decimated and destroyed in these wars. The Iroquois became the dominant power in the area, French Canada was on the verge of collapse. It was so bad that the French government took control over Canada and to save it they sent the first professional military force to North America (I don't know if Spain had any in Florida and the southwest before this)It was the Carignan-Salieres regiment who was sent in 1665.Basically they saved Canada for the French and when they left in 1668 about 450 stayed behind as colonists. They became some of the leading families in Canada and many of their offspring and grandchildres became officers in the Compagnies Franches de la Marine.
I think this would be a great range to do even as a smaller sub-range as Jenkins Battle on Snowshoes was.You could have French soldiers,Iroquois,Hurons,Dutch and English traders.I think this would be great for those of us who like the colonial period but would like something a little different.
