This is another set from the 50s. They are metal and about 1 inch high and stamped Japan on the bottom of each base. My guess is that they represent a French colonial unit from North Africa shown with a white French officer--perhaps Morocco? Any suggestions for my latest mystery set?
Thanks.
Randy

Hello Randy.
I had a similar set. It was made by AHI (Japan) in mid 1960. These soldiers are very similar to SAE sets in size and style. I always thought it was italian African troops but could be wrong.:)

Hey Randy, I was looking over this Forum and came across your old thread. These are AHI Japanese copies of SAE (Swedish African Engineers) 30mm set 20/s Moroccan Infantry, standing, 1954. Believe it or not, I bought, and still have, the SAE set in about 1956 from a toy store in Walla Walla, Washington for 50 cents. AHI produced figures which were shameless copies of SAE line. Although SAE's painting wasn't so hot, AHI's was even worse. The base of the SAE figures will be marked "Union of S. Africa."
