Well, gentlemen, our next pre-order has begun. This time for sets NAP0100-NAP0121 General Cambronne and the French Old Guard Chasseurs. The inspiration of the set is the moment at the close of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 when Cambronne utters his famous words, "The Old Guard Dies, it never surrenders!" (yes, yes, we know he really said something monosyllabic, but it's more poetic this way!!!). :D

We have tried to capture the Guard Chasseurs as they appeared on that day, in their campaign dress trousers and great coats and with a full variety of equipment. As the release consists of some 22 different sets meant to be formed up in a 3 rank square or line of battle, some wonderfully diverse dioramas can be created from them. Though specifically designed for the their Last Stand in square formation, they Guard Chasseurs were also engaged in Plancenoit on the French right flank and could be equally well used for displays in that part of the battle as well or in other previous campaigns.

I never thought that the British Guards would be topped. Now, I have been proven wrong! What a beautiful, well thought out series.

A question for Matt or another Waterloo expert out there. Couldn't these new Chasseurs figures be used in a dio opposite the British Guards releases? I was thinking how great they would look in a large dio, representing the Old Guards' late afternoon attack Waterloo. Wasn't it the Chasseurs that faced off against Maitland's Brigade?

Your figures just keep getting better and better Matt, at they started quite amazing as it is.;) These are most irresistable, congratulations to you all for a simple stunning release.:cool:

Excellent point Noah and one that I (pathetically enough) hadn't really considered. Yes, the 3rd Chasseurs attacked in the final assault against the British Line and were in fact repulsed by the British Guards under Maitland's command (i.e the famous "Up guards, at them!"). The British Guards were then counterattacked and driven back up the ridge by the 4th Guard Chasseurs, who were finally taken from three sides by the Adam Brigade, Halkett Brigade and Maitland's Guards and that's where we have the famouse "La Guarde Recule" order issued ending the affair. So, yes, you could definitely use these figures in line of battle deployed against a line of battle of British Guards on the Mont St. Jean ridge. In fact, you just gave me an idea for a diorama of the British Guards with supporting British Artillery defending a ridge against the Guard Chasseurs, both firing away at each other in line of battle and with many french casualties...the figures are actually perfect for such a display....

These new figures are the best I have ever seen. It is so nice to see such a large group of figures all made to fit into the same scene. Most of these are very suitable for multiples giving us the possibility of a large diorama. Also, I appreciate the many casualties, just what the doctor ordered.

I am one happy camper.

Incredible Matt is all I can say; not to take away from any of the previous releases, but these are just superb.

The time has come for me to shuffle the deck and do some rethinking for show displays as this range will get an even larger display area going forward at the shows, they deserve it and the customers will really appreciate it as well.....................

Hey Pete - if you recall, you specifically asked for "Old Guard" in fighting poses and I told you that you would definitely get them! So, here they are my friend...;)

Thanks guys for the kind words about this release. We've been working on this one since last June when we first thought of it, and it's great to finally see it come to fruition and to hear folks appreciate the research and vision that went into creating it. It's sort of like giving birth as the gestation period is about the same length, you're constantly worried that it will come out ok, and then once it's born you want to show it to everyone! :D

Great point indeed Matt and that leads to the happy conclusion of its not whether to get these but rather how many of which ones?;):D You know I love the Brits (and hope to see many more.:D) but these are jaw dropping.

Oh dang, I think I just had a heart attack.Mind numbed, feel weak.
