French Resistance (1 Viewer)

That's a great story. Its nice to see some of the French who stood up to the Nazi's getting some credit. A french friend of mine (whose grandfather was killed as a member of the Resistance) recently jokingly referred to his people as "surrender monkeys". It must have been amazingly hard for the ones who fought on in the Free French forces to contemplate Petain and his Vichey stoodges after they disgraced France.

Never understood the "surrender monkeys" blast the french get:confused:. By most accounts they were poorly led at a strategic level in WWII, but most casualty estimates I've seen are around 100,000 for this phase of the war, I'm not sure of the exact number. That hardly fits with the dropped weapon-only used once comments so often heard about their soldiers. They certainly didn't surrender Verdun in WW I either. I too am glad the French underground and indeed the french people are getting some of the credit they deserve:) Kudos to K&C for recognizing these heroes!
