Well I finally got my hands on this beauty!!

Do not ask how much as my wallet still hurts.

I will be doing a water display sometime in the future so along with the Bulge DDay is on my list too!! Thanks for all of your ideas!!

I have to cut it short. Time for church or no fussball momma says:(

Also, does anyone know if the ramp gate will stay down and how?

Hope you like...

Ludwig!!

Ludwig:

I had two King & Country landing craft boats that I used for my then K&C Iwo Jima diorama back in about 2001. A few years later I just traded them in for other K&C sets. After I started selling sets on eBay in 2005 I soon realized what a mistake I made by not waiting a bit as I could have sold these two landing boat models for a good profit on eBay. Oh well, "timing is everything" as the old saying goes! Hope to see photos of your new diorama using the USN landing boat at the Forum someday.

Excellent purchase Ludwig, looks really nice. Look forward to seeing this in a dio in the future.

England V Italy is very boring:rolleyes2:

Ludwig, I've heard that Magic Water is a good product to use for water effects in dioramas. I have not had a chance to use it yet, but I did pick some up for an upcoming project.

Ludwig, Nice use of the Texas Dinner figures inside of the craft. :wink2:

Everyone thank you for your posts. You may not have noted but this is one of the dealer releases. It is massive. It is almost as long as my....arm...but not as big around. It is simply amazing. Now back to my question. How does the gate stay down or does no one else have one. Oh wait, Brett has one. What say ye Brett!! Design problem or am I missing something?

Awesome pick up! look forward to seeing a more detailed dio shot!

Ludwig, You must place a Bratwurst inside to keep the gate down. Prost meine comraden !!!! ^&grin Just Kidding.....Very nice landing craft !!!

Ha Ha,

Actually it will take more weight then that. I decided on a Sherman tank with troops massed behind for cover.......

BUT..THERE IS NO AMERICAN SHERMAN TANK AVAILABLE AT ALL....????? please tell me I am wrong. But I do not see one in any category where there is a Sherman tank available in American markings......:(^&confuse{eek3} that just cannot be........How could you not have an American Sherman available at all times ....oh no.....???

So much for that idea. PA send me some Bratwurst......Knockwurst.......Sauerbraten to hold the gate down.......

Ludwig:(

The most recent DD-Sherman tank has been retired for about a year. You can probably find one on line most of the time. Here is a pic of mine with some Ardennes
snow on it !

I like it Wayne. I do like your use of these wax granules. They really look wet. Where did you buy them...and can you get them at local US Hobby stores?

On the Sherman I guess I will have to go online. Or perhaps CS. I have started to notice there armor is nice and....low price. No offense. I share the wealth in my collecting man. It just seems to me KC should always have a Sherman American Tank around...no? If it were me....I would not want my buyers looking around......

Ludwig, Yes the granulated wax came from a hobby store in the U.S. called Hobby Lobby. $4.00 for a large bag of it. I would not be surprised if we see a new K&C
Sherman released in the near future. How about a newly done M4A4 Sherman ?

Thanks Wayne,

Hobby Lobby it is then!! Appreciate it man! On the Sherman I am looking around on Ebay and other online places. The KC Tanks are sure commanding a great price. Do not get me wrong I love how KC sells on the second market....as that makes my stuff so valuable too!! What do you know about this Craig list? Safe like Ebay or no?

However, I am quickly learning in the high end diorama making you spend so much on supplies...that it is interfering with Toy Soldier Funds!! I stand there saying OK this much for materials....or I could buy this many more soldiers!! I am seriously thinking about going green next time!! Literally using the dirt, sand, making small trees out of twigs etc......

How would it be to do a real water display with actual water etc!!! That would be great!!!

Ludwig, The more natural resources you use the more realistic the dio just might look :wink2: I would keep the ski troops out of the Ardennes though !

Thanks PA. They stay in the dio however I side with Gordon N. However I am thinking of changing the name.....in honor of a fine member...Wait For It...it will be good......!

Remember I am just getting into detailed diorama's. I am a very busy man not retired with all the time in the world like some. I do not intend that my dioramas be perfect in every way. As I attempt to improve them I am working on making the display itself right i. e. does it have the right type of trees for the area the time of year etc. As far as time to research all historical accuracies.. not enough time like our new age of Google historians. I also have thousands of soldiers in dozens of theaters over hundreds of years. Not one theater niche. As well, militaria is first and foremost as you have observed in my collection. 15,000.00 at auction is not a rarity.

PA I learned a long time ago.....trying to be perfect is a long lonesome road......you can never make a mistake......

Ludwig....
