The 80th Regiment of Foot(the Royal Edinburgh Volunteers) were formed in Scotland in 1778 as part of the British forces being sent to America during the American War of Independence. They arrived in New York in 1779 and were sent to Virginia in April of 1781. The regiment was among the forces under General Cornwallis who surrendered at Yorktown in October of 1781. Over 500 men of the 80th had participated in the last major battle of the war. The facing color of the 80th's uniforms was YELLOW. The soldier shown here is carrying the Regimental Colours. The other illustration shows both the King's & Regimental Colours characteristic of the period.

Figure: WB 17890

Randy -- excellent -- I am not familiar with the figure -- is it Britains?

Thanks,
Dick

Yes it is Britains from their current AWI line for Yorktown. There is a companion figure (that I don't have) for the King's Colour. It is listed on the WB site as Sold Out. See below

Thats funny thats exactly what I was going to say, would be very interested to find out as that looks really good, better than the green sandpaper roll that I am currently using on my diorama!
