This wonderful gift arrived today from Cem whose work I have been posting on the forum. Seeing his artistry in person is a real thrill.
This new addition to my collection represents a Turkish officer who fought at Gallipoli. The red star on his tunic is a medallion for bravery during the Gallipoli campaign. It was also awarded to KIA. Usually given to officers and only rarely to privates. The red collar indicates the higher status of the officer.
