Hey Ken-

Any chance of us seeing an Oracle figure/ vignette?

If you could keep the cost of a Samurai castle to about $200-$300 I would consider buying. Have you considered doing a "Wallpiece" instead of a full on 3D fort? That might be more feasible.

I would like to see more samurai casulaties as well.

Any future plans on the Romans?? I have plans on jumping into that line and am evaluating the pros/cons of KC and St. Pete here. If you are planning something in 2008 give us a hint- if you can :D

Hi Chris,

I did actually look into the prospect of producing small wall sections, and maybe a gate, several years ago but the production quantity that I would have to make did not seem a reasonable business proposition at the time. It is something that I am readdressing at this moment with my new factory facility.

I have always wanted a Roman army and especially Legios IX, XIIII and XX. Maybe one day! The thing is that any manufacturer, as I am sure you know, is in a dilemma answering these forward production issues:

If the manufacturer says “YES we will produce these” then firstly the competition knows and secondly numerous emails are exchanged as to when, how many, what are they etc etc. Also if the manufacturer changes his mind during the process due to market influences or whatever then a lot of flak goes around amongst collectors toward that manufacturer.

I apologise; but East of India will not therefore disclose any forward production plans until at least the masters are made. AND then only give a rough guideline as to when the figures will be due for release. Sorry about that, but I like the idea! Hint (maybe)!

Now what is this Oracle idea you have? We are always keen to hear new ideas!

Fully understood. I think we can all appreciate your position. Good choice of Legions.

The Oracle of Delphi- I know, I am getting a little "out there" by suggesting it but it was one of the neat scenes in "300" were Leonidas was climbing the mountain to speak with her. I think that might make for an interesting, though albeit distracting, vignette. I dunno, just a thought.....

I forgot to mention-

I would love to see one of Korean Admiral Yi's turtleboats!!! If you could pull that one off, that would be great. :D What an addition that would be for the Samurai collection.

Hey Ken-

Are we going to see any upcoming leadership among the Persians and Greeks?? Most of the troops look to be leaderless.

Thanks,
CC

Hi Chris,

"No sooner requested than provided!" I don't know who originated that quote but it makes a true nonsence of the English language if you don't fill in the missing words! A bit like 'no sooner said than done".

Anyway here are some Greek Generals to lead the forces at the Battle of Marathon. These are available as from today. I am posting 2 views of each set as the front view doesn't really show the shield designs to their best.

Firstly we have set ACG11 - 3 Figures; Kallimachos of Aphidna with Champions (front and side views) - USD 85.00.

And also ACG12 - 3 Figures; Arimnestos with Champions (front and side views) - USD 85.00.

Lots more coming out for the build up to Christmas and we have just updated our website today.

Having been away I will try to updated the rest of the threads as soon as i can.

Ken-

as always, the new stuff is just fantastic!!! I will be purchasing these guys and more- I have a feeling my toy soldiers table will collapse under the weight of those Greeks!!

For those of you out there who haven't bought any EoI figures- GET WITH THE PROGRAM!!! :D:D

Hi Chris,
I don't have any AoI sets as yet, but do intend to rectify that in my long range collecting plan. I am much more attracted to the EoI range than the Spartans offered by another company. No offense to those who like that range, this is just my opinion.
I particularly like the shield designs on the EoI figures. It was these that first attracted me to this manufacturer. And what's more, they ought to be easy enough for me to pick up during the second half of 2008. :)

I would like to see a line of Romans and Carthaginians. I have some St. Petersburg figures but, they are quite costly to create a fair-sized diorama with. I've looked at K&C and Conte but, they don't do the Republic period. I'm still waiting for something in this era to show up in metal at a reasonable cost. I think the figure style that East of India produces bodes well for this era judging from the Greeks and Persians bieng produced... could be the answer...:)

Couldn't agree more!!! The Carthaginians would be a great add on- as would the Romans!!! Great idea- I feel the same way.

I was hoping for Republican Romans versus Carthage. Both Conte and K&C already do the Imperial era. I think the East of India style would work well with the Republic period. I hope Ken's reading this...

Great to hear about the Romans. Aside from one of the Conte sets, I don't think Romans have been done particularly well by any manufacturer.

P.S. I'm only on my third set of Greeks but the new generals look great, especially ACG-11. Have you considered making an officer with a transverse crest? I always thought those look cool.

P.P.S. I would buy a samurai castle facade, or at least part one one, if it was under $300.

Yes, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on that Samurai fort frontage that's posted on the other East of India thread. How about it Ken??? Then, maybe I would collect the figures too...

Hey Ken. Alex and myself, from "Battle Scene Productions" really like your product line. Below are several action shots, which I took prior to your promotion photos...Enjoy Nick

That's a great little diorama you got there and the East of India figures look excellent in that setting. I haven't picked up any Persians yet but, you just gave me some inspiration to do so. Thanks for posting the pics!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the diorama. If you want to see more Greek and Persian pictures go to the website below and look under East of India's Gallery.
They are beautiful figures. I like them a lot....Nick

Hi All,

Thanks for all your nice comments since we have been away in Chicago, it was a great show for us this year and it was also nice to be able to put faces to the names on the Treefrog forum. I really enjoyed our chats at the show and although I had met quite a few of you before at previous shows, and knew your real names; I could not match you user pseudonyms with your real names on this forum!

Anyway I am at last back to work for East of India. We always take a well deserved break after the show for one week as it is a bit of a grueling trip over there taking all our boxes with us of stock and display items. To be honest it really takes 1 month in time to prepare for it, to be there and to recover afterwards but of course it is well worth the effort. This trip we had to hang around the airport on the way home for 7 hours due to some engineering problem with the jumbo so 1 month and 7 hours this year!

Great photos as always Nick and thank you for posting them. Both you and Alex certainly know how to set dioramas up and how the photograph the figures to their best advantage. Macro photography is pretty tricky, as I am sure that all readers will know, due to depth of field concerns but you and Alex seem to have mastered the subject to perfection.

History of Ages - That fort is pretty massive and was built for me on commission by a professional model maker. Doors open and everything is authentic – even the wood on it is real wood! Alas it is too big to put into production but if you wanted one then it would cost about USD 3000 plus shipping of course to you.

The Roman army this time will be Imperial. It is too late to change as 12 figures are already made and a further 12 are being sculpted now. They are going to be a surprise so please don’t ask for any more details at this moment – they are however going to be historically accurate. No arm straps on the shields or “Tour de France” cycling shorts on these figures! The pilae also are made from solid steel but do not have the sharp point on the end so hopefully you can all reduce your personal accident insurance pollicies!

I am also very interested in a Republican army. I am a little greedy in some respects as I tend to produce figures that I personally want for my own collection. As a kid I wanted Imperial Romans very much so they are the first production run .. but Republicans also interest me now too in a big way and hopefully there will be many more years of figures coming out of EOI in the future! Without giving too much away at this stage!

Canadian Samurai – I also think the transverse crest looks much “cooler” but according to my research (and I may be very wrong) this form of crest did not exist at the time of the battle of Marathon. It came later to the Greeks from my research and of course when we move the Ancient Collection forward to the time of Alexander then we will be churning out transverse crests at a rate of two to the dozen! If anyone can however give evidence of them existing in about 400 BC please let me know and I will get on it now.

Transverse crest collectors however should be not disappointed; we have one on the Roman centurion in our new Roman Army release next spring!

Thanks all again .. now I must get on a try and answer a few more posts here today.
