Looks like the new North Gate scenic coming out gives us a peaked wall to a building without the rest of the building. I believe this would be the shed in the courtyard which was next to, or part of the larger barn. These buildings burned late in the day but would have been complete earlier during Lt. Legros fight in the courtyard. Does anyone know if there will be more courtyard buildings coming in the future ? Ken or Richard, your input would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi There.
The new sets were based on the three known watercolors done in 1815/16 and these show the gable end on the wagon shed still in place. This would have been the shed attached to the North end of the great barn. This is more accurate than the set I modeled in 1998/99 for W.Britain/Ertle, but that set was based on a 19th century painting by Gibbs. That is also why the flank company figures from those old sets were in the grey wool pantaloons and not the white linen/cotton ones as modeled in the new sets.
I designed the new sets so we have the option to build more buildings to model more of the North end some time in the future. Notice how there is a step on the inside to accomodate the roof and the base has a small notch to allow the West wall to butt up to the North face.
Additional buildings could include the cow barns along the North wall and East of the gate and the wagon sheds to the West of the gate.
The problem is that I have built the existing structures very close to correct scale and that will make these buildings fairly large. We get very mixed feedback about the size and cost of scenics, so we are still on the fence about these. However we are also considering a very limited run of the structures as a possible testing of the waters.
We have already added several new sets of figures for this range and images will be availible later this summer.

Hi Ken, Thanks for your reply. It's very understandable that a whole courtyard scene could take up quite a bit of room. Hopefully the buildings you mentioned can still be done in some form, it would make such an impressive display! Maybe at least give us the wagon shed to help finish off the area west of the gate.

I really appreciate all the forethought going into these new Britains series. You're making it much easier for the collector to put together great scenes full of action and historical accruracy.

Maybe a future Waterloo subject could be the heavy fighting around the churchyard in Plancenoit. A lot of new figures could be introduced, including some much needed Prussians as well as Tirailleurs and Voltigeurs of the Young Guard. Even two battalions of the Old Guard were sent in to try and hold this key position.

Thanks for the information Ken, I saw the piece at Hackensack and it looks terrific.

I also was fortunate enough recently to get my hands on some Hudson and Allen buildings that will look terrific in my 20mm Russian Front display; you are one talented person to say the least.............

Gee now he tells me after I already bought the older set! I would have liked to use the newer stuff with the old.

Ken. You're breakin' me heart as well as me bank book! With the option of the orchard, woods, n, garden. I'll have to give up the garage!

(P.S. For the first time in years I'm usin, moneys set aside for K.C. to get Britains before it goes!)
