As collectors who never thought of toy soldiers as an investment, but need to downsize nevertheless, we would appreciate any advice.
eBay? Consignment? Forum trade? Other?
Does one start selling with the lowest first to prove oneself? Or start with K&C WW2 to gain quick interest? What about slightly damaged items? What to do with rare pieces? Leave them up for sale until there is interest? Hmm.
Many other questions exist, please post if you are downsizing too
Not quite ready to talk turkey this second but looking to sell some nice items soon, if we can figure it out.
I'm sure others are interested in these details. We follow eBay sales on items like or similar to ours but clearly people on this forum have a wealth of info on what to sell away and knowin what to keep (Kenny Loggins cred here). Should we list what we want to sell here? Is that fair to Treefrog? I don't think that their forum should be exploited, it is a service. We would like collectors who truly appreciate the hobby, as forum members do, to be the keepers of the beautiful things we part with from our beloved collection. Anyway, thanks and Happy Collecting,

I think the market is flooded right now.
I also think there are less buyers.

I sell stuff, I also give it away, or sell at great "loss" just to see the happiness on the receivers face, only been stiffed twice by the same guy!(resold at market rate)

In the past I have also bought collections for resale for fun and profit. You are either in the business, in the hobby, or using the business to fund your hobby I think.
In the end if you enjoyed your items while you had them and can get something back for them while ensuring they have found a good home ON DISPLAY we should all be happy.
Would love to have the K&C british tank riders, and the british Ww2 stretcher bearer

my 10 cents.

That is helpful! We need to figure a few things out still. We do have the tank riders but it may take longer to find boxes , take pics and make lists than we thought. Keep looking but if we get ready soon we'll notify you. Very interesting stuff. Thanks

Be prepared to take a loss, but be patient it will sell. As someone posted there is just to much out there.

That seems to be the consensus. It's not so bad - had we been serious spenders in most hobbies we'd get no capital return from our hobby! Seriously and No offense to other hobbies intended at all, collecting toy soldiers has still been the most fun we could have for the money! Thanks for the wisdom.
