Hague did not seem to worry about casualties....what did he achieve.......Gen Giap was a very clever soldier ,he beat the French...the Americans..and ..had he run the terrorist campaign against the British in Malaya ( thank heaven he did not) after the war, he would have done them too.......have to give credit where it is due....his tactics against the French at Dep ben foo (forgot the spelling) was a Napoleon in jungle warfare.....sure he was the bad guy.....but he was also a bloody cunning general...it was .unfortunately he was on the wrong side....... he was not a dictator like Stalin or Hitler...he was fighting for his country.........regards TomBAt the very least, the man knew his business, but he didn't seem too concerned with his own casualties. -- Al

I was not aware of Giap's history after the finish of Sth Vietnam....I can understand why he was sidelined...he would have kicked out all the useless Gallars in the Govt......lived to 108 I think..well I'll be buggered.....thanks for the info...regards TomBWell said, TomB. And because he was not a 'politician' but a military leader he was sidelined by the leadership once he had achieved the victories and had fulfilled his usefulness to the Communist Party.
cheers
