In another thread someone mentioned the HBO series Generation Kill. I watched it when it was initially on TV and really did not think much of it, was in fact disappointed. I got the series DVD from the library and am watching it again. It is 100 times better the second time around. I,m half way thru and cannot wait to watch the remaining episodes.
Glad I gave this series a second chance as it is really good.

Sorry Gary, I just found this show to be complete nonsense and such a disservice to the USMC.

BTW- Me and my little guy played with the Navarrone set last night- Good Times!! {sm4}{sm4}

I'd genuinely like your thoughts as to why this wasn't liked more when it was initially airred.
I know the command structure gets beaten to heck, but I'd imagine there are the bad mixed in with the good, as there are in most walks of life.

I can very much relate to the banter and comic abuse portrayed in this series, and it's this and the character interaction that has me glued to th screen whenever I'm watching it.

My thoughts or Gary's???? or both of ours?? {sm4}

My understanding that the writer is a former staff writer at the Rolling Stone magazine...not necesarily well known for giving a fair and balanced report. My problem is that the overall tone of the effort in Iraq is decidely negative here in general- the US I mean. There are Marines out there diving on grenades to save their brothers, and Marine officers who make Dick Winters look amateur. For some reason, Marines diving on grendes in Iwo is worthy of mention as heroes and Medal of Honor recipients yet the current breed barely warrants enough print ink as a Discount super market. It just seemed that none of the heroism and personal sacrifice of the Marines in Iraq were worthy of screen time- just repeated looks at how ate up some of this particular battalions Marines leaders were.

I agree about the banter though mate.
