Hey guys,
Thought I'd turn to the expertise of the forum for some understanding on this one.
I noticed all the K&C german trucks and many armored vehicles have white painted fenders and/or edges. I see this on all periods of the war, can anyone give me some insite on this??? Is there some "pattern" or reasoning behind why some have it and some don't?.

My understanding was that the white fender edges had to do with clearances and or night movement. I know the "bead on a wire" see on German halftracks was so the driver would know the clearance need for his fenders. You can't see your own fenders from the cab, so was this to keep the MPs from getting clipped at night while directing convoys?

I know that some US M25 "dragon wagon" tractor trailers had white markings on the bumper to help visualize clearances for that large of a vehicle.
