German WW2 Metal figures "ARGO & OLGA" for identificatio please! (1 Viewer)

Hi, Gary!

I use Postimage, too. If you choose the "Hotlink for forums" selection under Share, that will give you the link to embed the images in a post:

I've never seen them before. They're reminiscent of the style of so many figures made in Red China. Also, the sculpting on the faces has a vaguely Oriental look. So much so, that on the figure with the peaked field cap and the two wearing helmets could almost pass for Kuomintang troops. They were outfitted briefly with gear purchased from Germany, and the color of the uniforms was a grayish blue. And they did not wear boots. Those three figures are also missing the German national emblem, the eagle and swastika, on the right breast of their tunics. That might have been a technical decision on the part of the sculptor, since their right breast is covered, with the suspender strap, or with the rifle stock, and it would have been more complicated to include the eagle. But if it was deliberate, that is, if those figures are supposed to be Nationalist Chinese, I could see it. They typically wore puttees, though, too.

I'll be curious to hear anything about their origins, too.

Prost!

Looking more closely at the middle figure, in an enlarged photo, it does look like there is a vague shadow of the national emblem painted on his right tunic breast.

Prost!
