I spent part of yesterday in a class room with 2nd graders. Helping kids build dioramas of the ARW and telling a bit about the early days of American History. This is part of what teachers are calling project based learning. They read about it. Discuss it and then do something regarding it. The pictures are not loading right now:mad: But I have a friend who is a teacher and we began discussing this some time ago. We got 25 Safari Toobs for the students. We built one ahead of time then had the kids start painting shoe boxes. pbl.jpgpbl2.jpgpbl3.jpg

Great work. I love sharing this hobby with kids. I don't have any of my own, but am actively getting my nephews involved.

Great initiative! I would have loved if my teachers did stuff like this with us in elementary school! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Brendan

I remembered that in primary school probably grade 3, our history teacher gave us a list of personalities for us to do simple biographies. Names like Einstein, Cleopatra, Florence Nightingale, Napoleon.....etc.
Of course I seized on Nappy. When we were each quizzed, I remember telling all that Nappy lost at Waterloo. The history teacher then tested my then limited knowledge of the battle of Waterloo - Q. How did the British react to the French Cavalry charges? A. they formed squares. Naturally I got an A for that.

This is the best time to get the kids interested.
