Combined some John Jenkin's Design Snow Shoe's figures and some Rangers figures for a small snow scene diorama.

Lemax trees, Woodland Scenic's snow, JJ's hut and cabin, whaleboat props along with Rorke's Drift's own dog, Pip.:D

Actually, this is Pips great great great grandfather, as their entire family came from a "great British war fighting line" of canines, distinguishing themselves in service through many eras.

Hey...I was going to type that...What Jeff said. Do you feel like a kid again Michael, or aren't you doing something right? This is what it's all about. Putting something cool/fun together- and sharing it!

Titus, Jeff, Mike..............thank you,

The snow is a pain to work with.

You have to take a little paint brush and move it around to cover the bases, but leave the shoes exposed.

I always seem to miss a spot, no matter how hard I try.

Thanks for the flattering comments.

Isn't it fun to watch the kid in Michael having loads of fun playing. Said I'd take a look see after answering your email and very glad I did. Super piece of work setting your photo diorama up along with some great photos. Thanks once again sharing your play time with us it 's always a pleasure seeing what you've put together..... Mike,
I usually like combat scenes more but your setup is great.

Nice to see the Ranger camp and all its buildings. Pretty soon you will need to add another wing to your house. I estimate you must have 500 to 1000 JJ figures by now:D

Gonna be tough Randy,

President of the bank called today and said I'm delinquent on my "John Jenkin's" loans, ready to default, lol.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I think the new K&C jetty could also be used with John's rangers and whaleboat, don't you? Boston or Portsmouth, NH dock?

I don't know Randy, that's a nice piece for sure.

Do you think it works that well with a Jenkin's whaleboat?

I mean it kind of seems out of character for a Ranger's whaleboat to me, but with a little imagination, it would work in a small photo and look nice too.

Thr Rangers could look really nice loading on that dock I guess.

I just look at it and feel like I have to buy a couple of more buildings to compliment it.

Michael

Randy,

I don't think these JG pieces would hurt it either.

Randy,

I found this picture on another thread, I think Simon posted it.

He said the piece was $79 and designed to interlock in groups.

Michael

You gotta get the dog too Randy.:D

Nice houses Mike but too English especially the WB one. The stone house could be a Dutch house in the colony of NY.

I hope to get the K&C jetty to use with my K&C USN and perhaps a sampan.

Re: the Rangers and Jetty--that is why I mentioned Boston or Portsmouth, NH -- seaside urban centers in New England in the 18th C as another locale for a scene in addition to the rural lake settings for John's wonderful rustic dock. New Hampshire was the original home of Rogers Rangers so Portsmouth would be possible. Portsmouth is where John Paul Jones lived and below is a photo of his house there built during the FIW in 1758 and still standing. Jones house is the kind of house found in New England metropolitan centers during the FIW.

Randy

"The house known today as the John Paul Jones house was built in 1758 for Gregory Purcell, a sea captain and merchant. When built, the house was considered to be at the edge of downtown and was amongst only a handful of stately three story homes in the city.

The house is a fine example of Georgian architecture with its gambrel roof and symmetrical five bay fronts. Its interior, with some of the original Georgian heavy molding, panels and carved woodwork intact, features two rooms on each side of a central hall and staircase. One of the front parlors provides a good example of changes in architectural taste during the federal period when it was remodeled. This room contains the classical thin lines popular during the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century.

The house changed hands several times during the nineteenth century. Owners included, Woodbury Langdon, Henry and Alexander Ladd, who rented the home to Senator John F. Parrott, and Samuel Lord. The Portsmouth Historical Society has operated the house as a museum since 1920.

The house has been known as the John Paul Jones House for several generations. Jones (1747-92), the celebrated naval hero of the American Revolution, spent time in Portsmouth in 1777 and again in 1781-82. He is believed to have rented a room in this house during 1777, when the widow of Gregory Purcell was operating a boarding house here. There is a wide range of material on Jones available in print and online; a helpful introduction to his life and career appears on the seacoastnh.com website."

Sorry Randy, there really wasn't that big of a selection to choose from on structures.

The piece just looks like it needs something along the dockside by it, or the sides would have to be cropped off.

The Sampans are in the photo I posted, but for some reason it doesn't really grab me either.

That's just my opinion.

It is a beautiful piece and not too pricey either.

With your talent and imagination, I'm sure it would make a great piece in a photo.

Thanks for the short history lesson, it was informative and interesting.
