I see that once again the application by a developer to place a casino in Gettysburg has been turned down with the license being awarded elsewhere. Good for G-burg! Don't need that crap at the nation's most hallowed battleground. -- Al

Dont need that casino crap anyplace to be honest. Im happy it got turned down,Gettysburg would have been ruined if that had happened.

But casino gambling equals tax reform, guys! Harrisburg has told us so for years. How else will our property taxes go down, if we don't build casinos in every town?

:D

Prost!

I love casinos, but not in places like Gettysburg. The amount of casinos being built all over the country is becoming ridiculous. There will be casinos in Walmart soon. Nevada and NJ should be it. I'll be in Atlantic City Sunday :)

AC has been hurting, since the casinos here in PA opened. Last summer, there was a billboard on Rte 309 North, for folks heading up to our casino in Bethlehem, touting all of the things you can get at the casinos in Atlantic City that PA casinos don't offer. And recently I was reading that some of the AC casinos are trying a new tack by going after the high-roller market, rather than the small fry, senior-center-bus-tour gamblers.

Eventually we're going to be saturated with casinos, as states all look to them as a source of revenue, and no one thinks any further than just "build casinos".

Prost!

Nice one, some places should be kept sacred.

I'm with you buddy- it just enrages me that I know one day, probably in our lifetimes, the derelict pennsylvania politicians will casino up Gburg. Rather than look at their own inept spending and taxing of us, they would rather make a mockery of our hallowed ground.

The attraction of Gettysburg is it's historical significance. They wouldn't think of putting them there for any other reason. Dare I say that if you want the casino issue to die, boycott vacations or trips there............impossible I know but the day will come when we have slots all over the place down there.

My wife and I visited Gettysburg on April 1 and we were amazed and pleased at how much of the battlefields were preserved. A casino would be a disgarce here !

We have the same problen in Canada where casinos are seen as saviours of our communities .
