My wife told me that the park rangers called it the "Starship Cyclorama."

As with most everything it become an overly complicated business involving law suits and general legal kookery to get it torn down. Remember the god awful tower they used to have at Gettysburg? The battlefield has an interesting history including the electric trolley tracks that went around the round tops at one point.
