Harry Heath deploys his division in an effort to brush "militia" out of the way. After a hard struggle, Pender deploys his division behind and both begin to push the cavalry...if only they knew what was coming up the Emmitsburg Road.

Major General John F. Reynolds arrives with his 1st Corps along with MG O. O. Howard's "flighty" 11th Corps. Reynolds and Buford head out to observe the morning's fight. Confederates inch closer to the cavalry positions.
