Gettysburg Show and 150th anniversary of the Civil war (1 Viewer)

I think I will make it to the Valley Forge Show this year. But will have to pass on Gettysburg. Just cant do all that running to both.

I'll be at both and hopefully driving home on Monday with an empty van.........{sm4}

Considering Valley Forge is the second biggest East Coast Show and Gettysburg has been great each of the past three years, no chance on there being empty pockets...........

Can't make it, Reading is home that weekend, and my dad and I have Sunday season tickets. And Sundays are Dollar Dog Days, too, go R-Phils!

Prost!
Brad

For those of you in Gettysburg this weekend. Please take the opportunity to stop in the Antique Center of Gettysburg, 30 Baltimore Street - 1/2 Block off the Square and from the Gettysburg Hotel. We are open from Noon to 6:00 PM. We have a gigantic selection of current production items as well as many retired and sold out items from most major makers and series. Also lots of individual figures, older and no longer produced figures and sets. We often get the compliment that we have the best selection on display - anywhere around. Lots of items on sale for this weekend. Also a gerat selection of military art prints at good discounts as well as 1,000's of military books from all periods. Don't miss the chance to stop in and see us. You will not be sorry.
Thanks

I concur 100%. The Antique Center is a great and fun place to hang out. When I last visited, they had a shrunken head on display!! {sm2} Stan has a vast and expansive stock of all sorts of toy soldiers- Del Prado, extensive KC, Britains old and new and JJD. he also has scores of Forces of Valor sets for sale at discount as well.

In addition, there is a little shop/building slightly across the street from Antique Center which houses at least one piece of Presidential memorabilia from every US President- no, Obama's birth certificate is not there. {sm4}{sm4} It's a fun place to visit (though slightly cramped) and admission is free though the proprietor does accept donations.

Hey Chris --- Jake here

You are making reference to Eric Dorr's Museum of History. Its a small place but his collection is incredible. It houses the largest collection of JFK memorabilia second only to the kennedy library.
His collection of dug Gettysburg artifacts is fantastic. I can spend hours in there. Incidentally, The Gettysburg Museum of History will be featured on an upcoming show of "American Pickers." I believe its scheduled for the first week of June. Enjoy the show tomorrow. If I get the yardwork finished today I could be coming to the show tomorrow.

I made it to the show today, picked up KC's LAH101 SS Waiters. There was a decent turnout during my time there, although it was rainy.

Jake- thanks for the clarification.

It was a decent show. Lighting still seems to be an issue. Found it interesting that no KC Jagdtiger's were on display for sale. Warrior said he sold his three at valley Forge. Seems to be a very popular piece.

The best part of the show was when George's father put his arm around me and told me I looked like Howie Long ( i get that a lot). Wish I could get his paychecks!! {sm4}

Chris,
Nice to see you at the show, it worked out very well despite the fact that I was on fumes all day as I got about 2 hours of sleep after packing and driving in from Valley Forge, but who needs sleep................{sm2}

My Dad was all fired up thinking I had a celebrity customer; I told him "Chris IS a celebrity as he, like you, served his country."

As far as I'm concerned, ALL of those who serve are ten times the celebrity any Hollywood or sports nitwit could ever hope to be; case in point, did you see the comments by the Steelers running back over the "celebrating' over Bin Laden getting offed?

Talk about having a screw loose, one too many blows to the head; as far as I'm concerned, whoever popped that POS should never have to pay a dime in taxes again in this country.

As in for the rest of his entire life..........

I completely agree. The sad thing is, for the safety of their families, the brave servicemen involved will never be able to receive the public recognition they so richly deserve.

But maybe that is good in a way . . . now no matter who the serviceman is the general public will have to think "this [soldier, sailor, marine, airman] could have had something to do with taking out Bin Laden." Hopefully all our brave servicemen and women will get treated with more respect and kindness as a result.

George- that is one of the kindest things anyone has ever said to me- thanks so very much!! :)

I have read a lot of posts about the SEALS getting the reward money- the $25M bounty or what not. I would love to see that money go to a trust fund to help pay for the college/ retirement/ etc of the wives and children of our men and women who didn't come back. I am sure the SEALs would agree with that. While they receive an insurance settlement, I would still like to see that extra measure taken.

That's the ironic part to all of this; those who put their lives on the line and completed this mission will probably never been known, but for them and their families, their safety is most important...........
